Umm.... okay. Me. I'm a science student who spends a disgusting amount of time reading and writing technical material. I love giving my brain a little rest by indulging in poetry, fiction, and of course fanfic. It's nice to write something without the goal of sounding like an overeducated, pompous ass, as seems to be requisite in all academia ;).

W/R is an appealing ship to me because there are so many fascinating complications with the characters' mutations and personalities. I hope you enjoy reading. Feedback is always appreciated, whether it's praise, comments, or suggestions to improve!

Hee. I love your Stark. He's a perfect blend of charming and smarmy. 'Anina' handles him well ;).

Go Xavier. I like his forceful speech. Cool. At first I thought Melanie was Mystique. So cool to see Blindspot brought in though. I had totally forgotten about her (been a long time since I read the comics).

"Welcome back to the Brotherhood, daughter." AHHH no! Is Rogue going to turn evil now or something? Oh my gosh. This was definitely a well-written and exciting chapter. I can't wait to find out what happens next. Poor Logan.

Wow. What an awesome way to blend movie and comicverse elements. I love that you've brought in Blindspot and Daken into this. The depth and complexity of the plot is just mind-boggling to me! This is truly an awesome story.

That said . . . HOLY FUCKING SHIT.

Ewwww Daken, you little pervy perv! Gah, I wanna smack him. You wrote that scene a little too well. I could just feel the creepiness of it. Ugh, I need a shower. But dangit, I can't stop reading. Logan, come rescue Marie for goodness sakes!!

Gambit wrapped his arms around her in a tight embrace, enthusiastically returning the kiss, thinking he was in heaven, only to realize he was in hell. His eyes shot open, his bare skin riddling with blackened veins as his life energy drained away from him and into her. Rogue broke away and released him, her face full of malice as he fell into a twitching heap at her feet. She licked her lips.

Yipes! Oh my gosh, poor Wolverine. You got me literally biting my nails here. Why did Mystique hafta go and ruin the happy Rogan times? Hmph.

And what does S.H.I.E.L.D. want with Rogue? Every time one question gets answered I'm left with a dozen more.

I'm not sure whether I look forward to or dread Rogue waking up =/. Poor, poor, Logan. This thing better have a happy ending, Sera, you hear me?!

Where are you, Momma? Ah need you.

Agh, no Rogue! You need Wolverine, like, duh. So, this wasn't my favorite chapter, largely because of the ample presence of the Cajun, but I can see where it was a necessary transition, getting across Rogue's mental state now that Blindspot has stolen her time with the X-Men. I'm glad she's not evil! And that she felt kinda bad for tearing into Wolverine and Gambit. So excited for the next chapter and to see how Logan and Marie go about rebuilding things now.

They all heard the growl. Ha! What a perfect moment. I love this simple little statement set off in its own paragraph right there. Conveys so much with so little, giving us Wolverine's state of mind and a hint of humor as well.

Ha! Holy cow. The plot thickens even more, if that's at all possible. Our Anina has been mighty busy, hasn't she? An international spy, heh, awesome.

Oh no. Hold the freakin' phone. "t a bigger part of him was upset that Anna hadn’t confided in him. She hid so many things from him. What else didn’t he know about the woman he had wanted to spend the rest of his life with?" That sounds bad. Granted, they've both broken each others' trust before, but I feel so bad for Logan right now! :( Yay for instinctive Rogany-ness though. How sweet that she still responds to him even though she doesn't remember him.

Another exceptional chapter. I can't wait to see how you pull all of the intricate threads of this plot together.

She respected his privacy enough to leave his memories alone. But tomorrow, she was taking the Cure. Tomorrow, they might be gone.

Whew, Pandora's box is right. That was hot. But then . . . this kind of broke my heart. A lot:

As real as it gets, he'd said. And suddenly, she was cold, and regretful, even as her sated limbs began to flush with the heat from the fire. Because Logan might have wanted her, but he had fought it. Hadn't wanted this. And she had taken it anyway.

It's like . . . she stole his sense of honor from him or something. So sad. I am absolutely on pins and needles to see how the rest of this unfolds.

That last line left me a little worried . . . *peeks from behind fingers* Is it too much to hope for a happy ending?

Author's Response: I think this will have a happy ending. Or, at least, not an unhappy one. Might not be a pat resolution, but \"hope\" is a big part of it, I think. She\'s not one to give up, like Pandora!

Ooh. Yay for two chapters at once. I think that warrants two reviews at once too, huh? If only because I don't have the attention span to read two chapters and remember what I read well enough to review it all *blush*.

Love his thoughts during the training sim--really brings home the sadness of the events that came after to derail his plans :(. Now I'm wondering what kind of magic you're going to work with the scene where she's leaving to get the Cure.

Okay. I was right. Total magic with the 'getting the Cure' scene.

But she knew, now, what torture it was for him, and what that fraught quiet concealed as he countered her chatter with monosyllabic answers. She didn't want that for him, any more.

Aw, poor baby. Nice of her to go easy on him.

Okay. I like where this ended. The Pandora thing kind of coming full circle, the hope theme . . . I dunno, the story just feels very--not complete--but very pulled together. Kind of full circle. Any smut added thereafter would simply be gratuitous (NOT that I am against gratuitous smut).

Anyway, bravo, and thanks for sharing with us this great story! I look forward to reading more of your stuff.

Author's Response: There\'s certainly a lot to be said for gratuitous smut! (I say it all the time :)) But my aim with this story was to reconcile myself with X3 a little, and it needed to stop there. True resolution might have to come in a post-x3 sequel :) (Oh no, did I say sequel? Noooo ...)

Oh cool. What an interesting glimpse into Rogue's mind. The idea of Magneto and the paper clip sculpture was definitely creepy--I could feel Rogue's nervousness about that, as well as her insecurity and nervousness about taking the cure.

Marie tripped over nothing, and scattered them across the floor.

What a wonderful image. Awesome, awesome ideas here, and really well-written. I absolutely cannot wait for the next update. Hee. Poor Logan, having his memories rifled through like that. Oh meh. I have a feeling he won't be too upset with her as long as she decides to fulfill a coupla those fantasies for him ;).

Author's Response: So glad you liked it. I\'ve always thought inside Rogue\'s head is a pretty fascinating place to explore - and this lets me explore Rogue\'s mind, AND Logan\'s memories. Not sure whether there will be any fulfillment of fantasies here - I don\'t think I see it going that far, because I\'m going to try and keep it as faithful to the X3 continuity as I can, and we all know what happened there. But I feel entitled to screw with our perspective a little and make things less painful for Roganites.

Marie D'Ancanto is an assassin and her target is James Logan Howlett aka The Wolverine.

Ooh, and the game is on. I love this badass side of Marie, totally cool. The chemistry is already palpable, and I can't wait to see how things develop between those two.

Is it wrong that I'm kind of hoping they'll get in a fight at some point? Ha!

Marie's incentive was the simple knowledge that she was the best at what she did.

Ooh. Love how you snuck that in there. She and Wolverine have a lot in common, huh?

"I don't need any foodie snobs ruining my classy atmosphere."

*snort*

Whoa. Riveting. Great chapter! I love the interaction between these two, especially Logan's blunt 'cut the bullshit, who do you work for?' moment.

"How about we stick with the original plan and you and I just fuck each other to death."

Good plan! .... Aww, man. Why couldn't they stick to that plan? No fairs! Whew boy, can't wait to see how Wolverine gets out of this one, and what Rogue will do now that she has his memories. Thanks for the quick update :).

Author's Response: Thank you! Yeah, I think Marie and Logan are going to have some fun \'being the best\' and it probably involve some nice competition in there somewhere! Thanks for the review and support!\r\n\r\nNo offense to foodie snobs, of course. :p

"If she dies, you know Raven is going to eat you alive. And I'll be there with a knife and fork, ready to dig in, old man."

Line of the day. I like your Victor! He's still reckless and overly emotional, but not as plain stupid/barely verbal as most people characterize him to be.

I love the dark humor when Marie tells Logan that she's stuck with his "fucking nobility and hero complex."

I'm so glad to finally have a little time to read this! It was definitely worth it. The interplay between Logan and Marie is great. Curious to see what the heck happened when she touched him. So she like, has his powers permanently now? And what the heck is Magneto planning?! Update soon! Pwease?

Author's Response: Thank you! For me, Victor is a fun character to write. I\'ve always seen him as just the anti-Logan; still smart but completely sociopathic and unpredictable. \r\n\r\nI\'m glad you like the interplay. I want to keep them true to Logan and Marie but just in a different setting. I\'ll try to update soon, I just started a new job and it\'s cramping my writing time! Stupid employment!

The idea of Erik trying to craft Rogue into his 'perfect weapon' by having her absorb key people is totally cool. Can't wait to see what happens next with Victor--and how Logan reacts to it!

P.S. Slightly warm beer.... ewww....

Aw, man! No. Marie gone is bad. They need to keep on, um, solidifying their connection ;). I'm curious to see how Victor will respond to Erik's plans for Marie, if he's gonna be a willing participant or he wants her all to himself or what. Also, the green guy?! I can't decide if it's Toad or Leech. Hmmm.

Looking forward to Logan's rampage, and possibly an epic showdown between him and Victor (huh? yeah? mebbe?) More soon! Glad you're continuing this; I dunno what the deal is with people not reviewing, 'cause I think your stories are a pleasure to read =D.

As for Jean, we shall see *eyebrow raise*. But I'm glad Logan's brought in some help. Here's hoping he gets his chance to kick some ass =D

Author's Response: Well, coming from you, that means a lot, thanks. I\'m going to get this done if it kills me...which it probably will. :p

Hey, I was sorry to see that WRFA ate your story =/. Anyway, just read the whole thing this morning (ah, the beauty of short chapters!). I'm definitely enjoying this, especially your characterization of crazy!Marie. The instant chemistry with Logan is great and I'm curious to see what will come of it now that the rest of the X-Men are thrown into the mix.

Author's Response: Thanks! I haven\'t had a story eaten by the WRFA before, I thought it was above that. *give the WRFA a disappointed look* I wanted o do the lab fic in drabbles for the first time because I was so afraid of mucking it all up with long detailed chapters. But I\'ve given myself a long long list of prompts so it\'ll be fun. crazy!Marie is delightful, I\'m thrilled writing her and figuring out her patterns and the way her psyche works. I think I started this... Wow, back in December. Remember how I said I didn\'t have any room to talk? The chemistry is really fun to write, I love this Logan. He\'s definitely not one to give two sifts about what anyone else thinks. And Marie is taking what she can get as soon as she gets her hands on it. The X-men, lol, they\'ll do what hey do best. Put their noses into everything. lol

I don't actually know how to play pool. Sorry if anyone was really looking forward to that scene.

Not sure why, but your Author's Note made me LOL. Hard.

I'm really enjoying this so far! Not sure how I missed the first couple of chapters, but I'm glad I noticed it and was able to catch up :). There are so many stories where Logan drags Marie out on the road with him; I love the twist, and her turning on the charm and hustling pool is just too great. Or perhaps it's Logan's jealousy over it that's great. Regardless, there's definite greatness in there somewhere.

“Listen, kid, I’ve been around for a while, I know the good spots,” he teased right back. “I guess I will bow to your far greater experience in this matter,” I said gravely.

Ummm.... is it wrong that I totally took this as innuendo? =D

Great story so far! I'm liking the tone of it, lighthearted with just the right touch of angst. Looking forward to the next chapter, for sure.

Author's Response: I\'m so glad you could find greatness somewhere. Your review really made me feel like I was doing a good job. I\'m never sure if I get their silly banter quite right so I\'m excited to hear that you found it light-hearted and not strange. Thanks!

“Is it safe?” I joked. “I’m more than a match for the bugs in the walls.” “Did you have to tell me about them?” I moaned. “I was happier not knowing.”

Ha! I loved this. What a cute moment. This Logan and Rogue have such great banter. I'm liking the Rogue/Marie moments too.

And thank you, thank you, a million times thank you for not overdoing the scene in the bar where the guy came up to hit on her. So many people would've made him come up and grab her out of the blue and try to have his wicked way with her or something, LOL, but you made it really realistic. Nice. Off to read the next chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I try to just let the banter come naturally but I often get worried it doesn\'t come out quite right. \r\n\r\nYou make me blush with your reviews =)

I'm really enjoying this story. Your portrayal of Rogue/Marie's inner world is really unique. And the Rogue/Logan moments are just priceless. Bedtime stories and s'mores! Awww :)

Author's Response: I\'m so glad you like the inner world. I struggled a bit with how to portray it so I\'m glad it came out well. Sometimes I think I\'m making Logan too sweet with Marie but then I\'m like, screw it, they\'re having fun together, who am I to stop them?

Rogue wants Logan. Logan wants Jean. It's the way of the world and the luck of the draw; you can't choose who you love. But when a new recruit of Nick Fury's comes to train with the X-Men Rogue sees a chance she thought was lost to her. Should she take it?

If you finally had the choice to be loved, what would you do?

Oh. Wow. This pairing never would have even occurred to me, but I like it, weirdly enough. You write Captain America really well :). I love the use of his 'voice' in the narrative. "I think she's swell!" Hehe.

Okay, so when you said this story wasn't going to have a happy ending, that put me off and I almost didn't read it. But I'm soooo glad I did. This was great. Not too terribly, heart-breakingly angsty, but just angsty enough. And the moment in the sim when Rogue realizes she can touch Steve, and Wolverine's reaction to it--priceless. I cannot wait to read the last chapter of this. Or maybe I don't want to read the last chapter. It's stupid, but even after what you said, I'm still somehow hoping for a Rogany ending.

But regardless of the outcome, you definitely have a great story here and I will be waiting with bated breath for the last installment! Update. Soon. Pwease =D =D =D

Author's Response: hey, thanks for the review. glad you like steve\'s voice because i was a little nervous about it; i kept asking myself how much period detail should i put into his narration? how old-fashioned should i make him? if he comes across as naturalistic and sympathetic then i\'m a very happy hobbit. as for where the pairing came from- it just occured to me out of the blue during the captain america movie. glad you think it works- i quite like it myself. now i know what i said but this isn\'t actually the last chapter, i just hope you enjoy the penultimate one just posted. thanks for the review and hobbits away, hey!

Aww... poor Wolvie :(. Gah, that must really suck, knowing that he and Rogers were both government experiments yet the results came out so different. I didn't think about that.

Also, Jean=bitch. But you did make her reasonably sympathetic, so kudos. Please please please give us a Rogan ending. Please? I like Captain America and all, but Wolverine and Rogue are like, my OTP 4eva, y'know? And they're so meant to be in this story. He doesn't even want Jean cuddles when he's upset. Bad Jean cuddles. That should tell us something, right there. I just hope Logan and Rogue both come to their senses!

Author's Response: hi, i know this is a little late but i wanted to thank you for the above review. have to say, i knew from the beginning that this wouldn\'t end up being rogan (it\'s why i tried to be so up-front with everyone, rather than getting their hopes up). i\'m therefore happy that you gave the story a chance anyway. i personally feel like, yeah, logan\'s in pain and with someone he might not really want but a lot of it is self-inflicted. at the end of the day rogue deserves to be happy, even if it\'s with steve... so i think wolvie will just have to settle for bad jean cuddles ;-)

Just kidding! I was really heartbroken to see it end like this, but you did a wonderful job writing it. Jubilee's voice was perfect, and the interaction between Wolverine and Laura was just achingly real. I would love to read the epilogue if you feel like writing one, but otherwise, beautiful story.

Author's Response: hey hun, thanks for the review. i\'m glad you liked laura in this because she\'s a character i\'m fascinated with: i\'m trying to find something to put her in soon. also i think she gets a lot of how logan sees the world and provides an insight not even marie or jubes have. so if i got her right i\'m a very happy hobbit! glad you liked jubes\' voice too- i love writing her and i suspect it shows. i was trying to be as realistic as one can be when dealing with characters who have superpowers so if you found this \"achingly real\" (*blushes*) then i am a very happy writer. thanks for the review, hobbits away, hey!

Ugh. As much as I love Logan's total agape for Rogue, it sucks that it had to come to this.

Reminds me of some Medieval knight who has this pure, selfless love for a maiden.

Sigh.

As much as this story and I have a love/hate relationship, it is beautifully written, and I have to give you props for that. Great job.

Author's Response: hey hun, know it\'s late but thanks for the review. i think logan and marie certainly have the courtly love thing going on, (as you said, the untouchable maiden, knight errant in leather jacket...) it is kinda selfless. and thanks for giving this story!
