Okay, that's not much of a summary, so here's an excerpt to give you a feel:
She held out her hand, palm up, and for a second time seemed to stop. The man narrowed his gaze on her hand, and then again on her eyes. He took one shuffling step forward, and she concentrated on keeping her body loose, letting no tension show in her posture. The sudden /snick/ as the claws retracted startled her, but she managed not to jump. He watched her closely, reaching toward her hand. Suddenly he grabbed it, and for a second she thought he was going to bite her palm. But he just took a deep inhale, smelling her scent and then looking back at her eyes, assessing. She thought she saw a slight lessening of the tension in his posture after this strange ritual, but either way they were out of time.

you know, i'm not sure how much more of this rogue can take. i mean, he's being really sweet in a fucked up way, but seriously, this is not helping their relationship! i mean, i'd be SOOOOO pissed if i were her, like wanting to burn down the motel just to spite him pissed. anyhoo, amazing twist, very believable and clever! cannot wait for more, but i'm kind of hoping rogue gives him a little bit of a hard time before forgiving him. maybe she could somehow escape and save his ass at the last second, ha, that'd be funny!
Author's Response: Yeah, I\'ve kind of wondered at times just how understanding she can be without being a doormat. I think in other stories I\'m used to Rogue understanding Logan\'s idiosyncrasies because she has him in her head, but since this AU Marie has no Inner!Logan she has to rely on what she knows from his background and what he\'s told her about himself to understand his behavior. He\'s being pretty thick-headed for sure, but I am hoping that his intense reaction to Stryker helps justify that. I mean, if something can scare the sh*t out of Logan, it must be pretty bad, right, even if he can\'t remember exactly what it was? And I think that partly justifies for me why he feels he\'s doing the right thing to protect Marie.

love the new update, the plot's really heating up in the last couple chappies. i'm curious to see if you'll do a logan pov sometime. personally, i'd love to see some insight into what was going on in his mind during some of the things you described from rogue's pov. like his 'straight jacket' face or the 'cold shower' face. are those faces er, correctly labeled i guess. like, is he really thinking 'god she's crazy' with the straight jacket look and is he really angry with the shower look?
