I should just go back and re-read all of your stories! I know you're working on one in the moment, but I like to wait until their finished, because I kind of get . . . obsessive and I have this thing about starting stories that haven't been finished yet. I know you promised you never would leave a story behind, but I hate it when people don't finish them. Anyway, I love the way you show Logan's vulnerability and his propensity to be an asshole too. The way you portray his personality is very realistic. He is good (oh, so good!) but very flawed too--and not just in the sexy "tall, dark and brooding" way but in a "he's a total jerk" way tool. I could have totally understood Marie wanting to leave after this encounter--though I'm very glad she didn't! Thanks very much!

I've read this on fanfiction.net, and decided, on a whim, to re-read it here. I've forgotten how wonderful this story is! This chapter was just hot (yes!) but the whole story is just perfectly written, plotted, spaced, etc. etc. etc. I'm so glad I found it again. I'm in awe of your talent!

*sigh....what a great story!! I loved it! Very well written, and had me smiling through most of it. And the hotel smut scene....hot damn. I needed a cold shower after that one!! One thing I feel I need to mention above all else; you are the only author that I have come across that used Logans voice in Maries head while Logan was there with her. Offering her incite into what was going on in HIS head. I LOVE that! Kudos!

I've been meaning to come back here and write a review. I can't believe how much time has passed. I wanted to go back to the beginning and reread it since I missed how you tied the rescue at the end back to the rescue at the beginning. It made me wonder what other gems I might have missed.

Well, since then I have reread this several times and I have found it to be just as fresh and compelling as the first time I read it. I think the thing that really resonates with me is the maturity, intense emotion and commitment that they have for each other. They've faced many obstacles, both internally and externally, but they've handled them in a very mature and realistic manner. I like how you didn't take the easy way out and use misunderstandings and hurt feelings to up the angst ante and drag things out or create convoluted scenarios. Instead you just had them confront each other and talk things through. They are mature adults working through their problems together. And in doing so, you showed a relationship between two people who are intensely devoted to each other and deserve to be together. They compliment each other so well and showed that they are the best person for each other, as they proved over and over in both words and actions.

Well, I can't thank you enough for posting and finishing such a wonderful story. It was a joy to read and definitely one that I will continue to reread as well.

Oh, BTW, I was never able to wrap my head around John Donne's poems when I was in school. But now that I've read your End Notes, I finally get it! That's a pretty impressive feat, getting me to like and understand a Donne poem. ;)

And speaking of poems, I loved your ending refrain:
EarthraincomfortMariehome.

Amen to that!

I'm kinda new to this fandom, but this has definitely been my fav W/R story thus far. Really, really good. You kept me riveted, with the plot and the action and their relationship unfolding and just--guh :). Great take on these two characters. Thanks for writing!

Author's Response: Thanks so much for reviewing! I'm so glad you liked the story. I got sucked into this fandom fairly recently too, but it is crazy-addictive and there are some amazing writers on this site. Thanks again for your review, it means a lot!

Really like this chapter.

Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked it. Poor Logan, always ready to think the worst. But, in my conception of the character, he just doesn't understand how relationships work. He's not only not been in one, he hasn't even been *around* people in relationships. So he doesn't understand that people fight, and make up, and talk through problems. Marie may have been inexperienced with relationships, but at least from living in the mansion she understands a bit more about them. Logan takes some serious convincing.

This is so amazingly well written, the characters were so spot on for me, even though it was an AU. Loved it!

Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked it, and that you thought the characters were spot on, even though they were so different in some ways from the movie version. Thanks so much for reviewing!

interesting chapter, first quite sexy with Logan in the tub and Marie washing him, and kinda cute that he is thinkin about Marie at the end but still sad for what was done to him...

Author's Response: Yeah, poor Logan. Doesn't it just make you want to cuddle him? ;-)

Who else would Logan trust...

Author's Response: Hi bima -- I'm so sorry for the delay in responding to your lovely reviews, I haven't set the site up to email me when someone reviews (it's fixed now) so I hadn't checked back on this story in awhile. Thanks so much for reviewing! And of course, Logan will innately trust Marie. It's destiny! ;-)

I'm running out of was to describe just how talented you are. The word brilliant comes to mind again and again. Does your own awesomeness ever give you a headache?

I know you had a little trouble earlier on with a certain wall writer smack into so frequently. But the flow of this story, the writing, the characters, every comma, hyphen, and capitalized friggin letter could not have been more perfect, more natural, more right. This is a masterpiece. You should be published, your name featured on all the bestseller lists. I can't wait to read your next, whatever it may be.

Day-am, girl!

Author's Response: I am so glad you liked it, Rose! As you know, I'm your biggest fan (said in a *not* creepy, *not* "Misery" kind of way) so it's so amazing to know that you read my stuff, let alone enjoy it.

Shout-out to your authors notes. Here-here! (Or is it 'hear'??) That plagiarized story that managed to stay on that list has been driving me crazy for ages. I'm glad someone finally said it.

With the clarity of the dying, she recognized how little pain there was, even though she was hanging from Logan’s claws. Just a cold burn and the slow choking sensation of blood welling up in her lungs. Such a beautiful line, crystal in a scene that already stands out as magnificent.

Loved the last bit, though I was worried that they would find the pair dead. I wish with all of my heart that I could give this more than five stars.

Author's Response: Yeah, the only thing that makes me okay with it still being there is knowing that sahara's epic is going to push it off soon enough. :-D Like I would kill them both! If there's one -- no, two -- things you can always count on in my stories, 1.) there will always be hot Rogan monkey sex and 2.) there will always be a schmaltzy Rogan happy ending. Fanfic is wish fulfillment, right, and what more could we wish for than for these guys to resolve their angsty goodness with hot sex and then live happily ever after, right? ;-)

Okay, forget what I said before. This is the greatest chapter of all time. Oh my god, I have tears in my eyes. It's Just. That. Good. Aaaaaaarrrraaaaaggghhh >satisfied, astounded roar<

Every single fucking sentence had me on the edge of my proverbial seat, every single line so expertly crafted, culminating in that oh-so-huggable last paragraph. Possibly one of the best central villains that have ever graced these virtual pages.

Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked it! This was actually one of the chapters I liked the least, because it just seemed like exposition, exposition, exposition. I'm very happy to know that it didn't read that way.

Such marvelous detail, painting the scene in the readers mind more effectively than any artist's brush.

.......

>reaches the end<

.......

Waaaaaiiitt....What? What??!!! WHAT??!!!!!!!!!!! >wild-eyed, panicky shock, horror

Author's Response: Or as my son would say thanks to his obsession with SuperGrover..."Hubba what?" ;-) Glad I was able to catch you by surprise with that. I tried to put enough clues in there that it wouldn't seem totally out of the blue, but then reading it over it seemed completely obvious to me, and I didn't want Marie to seem dense for missing all the signs. It's good to know I was able to surprise the "reader."

Quadruple points just for the opening line.

Even with the blood roaring in his ears, the icy terror gripping his body, he knew it was the worst possible thing he could say to her, of all people. Yet another, picked from the multitude, "Of All Time"-er.

“Did you really think I was not just mad enough to leave, but to take all your clothes with me?” Laughed aloud at this. So simple, but I can't help but giggle every time I read it.

And then, a second later--“You promised,” she heard his low voice repeat, as if to himself. “You promised.” Heartbreak, total heartbreak. The end to this chapter was polar opposite to what I was expecting, and as such completely genius. You are such a...a...talentedawesomeexceptionalamazingbrilliantfabulouswonderfulpoignantfantasticsuperbjaw-droppinglygood writer. I'm jealous. It boggles the mind to think that we have someone of your skill on this site.

Btw, if it wasn't clear by now, this little spree was inspired by someone awesome enough to review every chapter of my story. Heinously late, but there you have it. ;~D

Author's Response: Aw, thanks so much! And my review of your story was heinously late as well, just because even on the fifth or tenth or whatever reading I was too impatient to get to the next chapter to stop and review the prior one! But that makes it such a nice surprise when it happens, as reading all your reviews today has been. :-)

"“And maybe a little bit of Rogue, because let me tell you, sugar, the two of us are all kinds of pissed off.”

and

"
“Convincing you that you’re not the Big Bad Wolf may be a little harder, so let’s start with the easy one. The part where I’m not a little girl, skippin’ through the forest, takin’ cookies to Grandma.”

Are just wonderful, absolutely brilliant. You do Logan/Marie dialogue superbly, as natural as skin, with such ease avoiding the stilted effect that plagues even the most talented of writers.

...this time in a delicious slick invasion. Ohhhh, sweet jesusflippinpancakes. I cannot tell you how much I love this scene, especially this line snippet. I'm head-over-heels-Tiffany-ring-first-flight-to-Vegas-and-the-quickest-appointment-with-an-Elvis-impersonating-priest in love.

"...the words dissolved into excited huffs and gasps.. That "dissolved" was just perfect, really making the line.

Waaaaaaaay too many more that deserves it's place in this little text box, so lets just say that every line after the last is worship-worthy. Definitely in my top ten of smut scenes.

Author's Response: So glad you liked it! Smut is definitely the hardest thing for me to write, I feel like I'm writing in cliches no matter what, so it's great to hear that it ended up okay.

Short as it is, this may be one of my favorite chapters of all time. And this...

"
He smelled her coming, a combination of carelessly washed body, acrid hairspray, and arousal. As she got closer he smelled the increase in both her excitement and fear, and knew she was exactly what he was looking for. She wanted someone who would hurt her, and he sure as fuck wanted to hurt someone right now."
falls into the 'of all time' category as well.

Author's Response: :-D So glad to hear the lines you particularly liked.

This is one of those fanfics which I have seen a lot of times but never read because normally I donīt read long fics until they are complete. (I hate it when itīs left uncomplete) So, when I saved it on my mobile phone two days ago I was excited about reading it.

I loved it! I couldnīt stop myself, I had to read it until the end. I must to tell you that I was walking around my city reading it, I read it on the train, while shopping, ... hell, I read it even in the bathroom. xD

You did a great job, and I loved the fact that FOR ONCE it was Rogue who took care of Logan and not the other way around. You make me bite my nails with all the angst, the love and the plot.

Thank you for such an amazing fanfic!

Author's Response: Thanks so much for such an amazing review! Yes, I've been burned way too many times by getting sucked into a work in progress and then realizing after the fact that it hasn't been updated since 2008! I'm so glad you liked it. Yes, at first I was worried that it was a little *too* much of Rogue taking care of Logan -- she was making all the decisions and kicking all the ass, and he was starting to look kind of passive, which is just not his character. That's partly why I threw in her reaction to Sabretooth, and I like how Logan takes care of Rogue not by defending her physically, but by doing things that are outside his comfort zone (talking about himself, trusting others, letting Xavier look into his mind, etc.). Thanks again for reviewing!
