Shout-out to your authors notes. Here-here! (Or is it 'hear'??) That plagiarized story that managed to stay on that list has been driving me crazy for ages. I'm glad someone finally said it.

With the clarity of the dying, she recognized how little pain there was, even though she was hanging from Logan’s claws. Just a cold burn and the slow choking sensation of blood welling up in her lungs. Such a beautiful line, crystal in a scene that already stands out as magnificent.

Loved the last bit, though I was worried that they would find the pair dead. I wish with all of my heart that I could give this more than five stars.

Author's Response: Yeah, the only thing that makes me okay with it still being there is knowing that sahara's epic is going to push it off soon enough. :-D Like I would kill them both! If there's one -- no, two -- things you can always count on in my stories, 1.) there will always be hot Rogan monkey sex and 2.) there will always be a schmaltzy Rogan happy ending. Fanfic is wish fulfillment, right, and what more could we wish for than for these guys to resolve their angsty goodness with hot sex and then live happily ever after, right? ;-)

Whew. That's a lot of chapters to read in one fell swoop. Not sure why I haven't read your epic before now, possibly something to do with prisonerLogan stories not generally being my cup of tea. However. What a however. You have mastered the genre, and moved it forward. You do action incredibly well - seamless and convincing - and the emotional moments are beautifully drawn. (The sex too, but it's the emotion in your sex that made it so readable, I think.) I'll be sad to see this end, and I'll probably reread it slowly and leisurely once it does. Amazing job.

Author's Response: That's so funny...I spent a lot of last night reading your stuff too -- I'm loving your writing! And out of curiosity, is that a real book you refer to in "Tooth and Claw," and if so is it by Arnie Buss? If so, I know him. :-) I'm part-way through "The Bargain" now. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing...I was on my phone last night, but now that I've snagged the laptop back I can review your stuff too.

Oha, that was something. I believe there's no need for me to add to the many apt and justified praises on Logan realising that Rogue is a fighter on his level. The part I like even more, though, is Rogue understanding enough of the Wolverine to grant him the chance of the kill. Excellently done - you write Rogue a lot stronger than is usually done, and thus she becomes an equal partner at last. Great stuff.
Am also tremendously glad to see that Logan can be made to understand his role as a partner without cringingly soppy heart-heart scenes:

“I should be givin’ you hell right now for locking me in that bathroom,” she said.
Logan grunted in agreement.

There, all done.

I'd like to second Oracle13 in appreciation of cleanly written, dependably updated work - and thank you so much for actually answering the reviews!!! I feel so much more appreciated! :-D

Author's Response: Aw, thanks! It's funny, towards the middle of the story I realized that writing a strong Marie was coming so naturally that I was getting worried in the end that I was ending up with a kind of passive, spineless Logan. I didn't want a story where Marie just bossed Logan around the whole time and fought all his battles for him. In the end, though, I think the balance shifts back and forth between them, and both are able to show their devotion by how much they act in ways that might be counter to their natural tendencies. I think Marie shows in the first couple of chapters that she's naturally kind of empathic and caring, so seeing her be kick-ass for Logan is more fun. And we all know that Logan is tough, so showing how he protects Marie in other ways (seeking help from the Professor, etc.) and comes to an understanding of her strength lets him show that he can be caring and empathic too when Marie is involved. Okay, I'm rambling. Thanks so much for writing your reviews...they are so much more appreciated than you will know! I actually did a little dance in my desk chair today when I checked my phone and saw a new review had been posted. Glad I have an office to myself. ;-)

I have absolutely loved, loved, loved this story! So so glad I took this ride with you! Can't wait to read the end and see how you give them a happy-ever-after, because you will give them a happy-ever-after, won't you?

Author's Response: I'm so glad you have liked the story! Thanks for reading, and reviewing! I'm not going too far into the future with the last chapter, but for what there is I think they'll get a pretty happy-ever-after. :-D

I have to say, even though this is not the last chapter, I have loved every moment of this story.

You have an amazing talent that I could only hope to have a quarter of. You can make people envision the scene you are describing. There are many great authors in the world but very few who truly have that ability.

I look forward to reading many more stories from you.

Melody

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your review, and for the compliments, Melody! I know compared to some of my faves on this site I'm a league below, but I've definitely learned a lot from the first real non-scientific writing I've done in about a decade! ;-)

They say there was a secret chord, that David played and...yeah. Hallelujah.

Thank you. This was marvelously fun to read. And ballsy. Very ballsy. Thanks.

Author's Response: That's so funny, that song has been stuck in my head for the last two days. I was actually just singing it to my toddler in the bathtub, luckily he's too young to be freaked out by the darker lyrics. :-) So, Hallelujah for what? Retribution against Stryker? Marie deciding to accept Logan's healing? Not trying to fish for compliments, I just love to hear what people found particularly resonant for them. Anyway, I'm glad you found it fun to read. I kind of liked the symmetry of ending with the team's comm feed, as I started it, but of course I can't resist a last chapter. Thanks again for all your reviews, throughout the story.

Stryker's fate - couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Good, I don't want there to be even the slightest possibility that he could get his hands on them again. Good riddance.

I've really enjoyed this story and I'm sorry that it's coming to an end. But I'm looking forward to some Rogan-goodness in the last chapter (hint, hint). Also, I can't tell you how awesome it's been to read a story that is consistently and quickly updated as well as being on the way to being finished. You rock!

Author's Response: Yeah, I have to admit I quite enjoyed Stryker's disembowelment too. :-D There will definitely be some Rogan-ness in the next chapter. Maybe not smutty Rogan-ness, but some sharing of feelings and whatnot. I have to admit, I was kind of surprised to see I only started the story in December. It seems like longer. But, I've definitely been burned by unknowingly getting really into some works-in-progress and then realizing they haven't been updated since 2009, or whatever, so if I do write more just know I'll never do that to you guys! Thanks again for all your reviews, they are definitely a large part of what motivates me to write so consistently.

Aaahhh! That was great...I forgot all about strikers son being in the room with them! Loved it : )

Author's Response: Yeah, poor Logan. Remember, last chapter he disconnected the i.v. with the mutant tranquilizer and unwittingly allowed Jason Stryker control over his mutation again. He just can't catch a break lately. Glad you liked it! Thanks so much for reviewing!
