Barely Legal Since 2000
How does this story not have more reviews?? This was so great! I've read it several times, and I always finish with a big smile on my face. Love your Rogue voice, and the friendship she has with Scott is so sweet. I don't think Scott gets enough love, and the way you wrote him was just perfect. This was a really clever, well-written story. Loved it!!!
Oh, this is sad! Why would you write this? It's a great piece of writing, and I love your Logan voice, but damn. Break my heart why dontcha? JK, this is still a great read. Now I'm off to find one of your happier stories! :)
This was really excellent. Amazing how a million thoughts and feelings can happen in just a moment. My favorite line: "His life before her and after her could be narrowed down to two simple words - dead and alive." Perfection!
Oh, this was wonderful. I so love companion pieces that show the other POV. This was beautifully written, so heartbreaking and uplifting. That's all I can say; just beautiful.
I had to do a double take when I saw that your story was updated, and then I did a little squee! because you are one of my favorite authors, and you're back!! I feel like it's such a loss to the W/R community when a talented author leaves the fandom or stops writing. I'm so glad that you are writing again! My all-time favorite story of yours is Overlap--so good!
This is a wonderful chapter and an amazingly seamless addition to a story that left off four years ago. I like the slow build of each chapter, and Logan's reluctant yet inevitable attraction to Rogue. He's rough and mean, but for some reason he has a soft spot for her. Can't wait to read more.
Welcome back!!
Gritty and painful to read, yet so well written that I couldn't stop reading. Looking forward to following Marie on her journey.
This was a delightful mix of funny, sweet, and bittersweet. You had me laughing in the beginning as he struggled to put two and two together. He and Rogue? Rogue and him? Lol! And "Close your mouth, sugar" - so very Rogue!
The ending is a little sad but hopeful--now I almost need a part two for closure! ;)
I think this was an awesome addition to this series; it keeps it interesting to have a little darkness to round things out. You wrote a darker Rogue, but it was still believable within her character, especially if she fell in with the Brotherhood early on.
I liked the part where Logan put together how in the old timeline, Rogue slowly learned to control her powers to a degree.
And I love that Logan took the time to find Rogue and try to change her, probably the only one who could.
I like this line: " Instead of following Mystique's little self-serving agenda, you helped save us all." I assume you are referring to the events of x2?
Great story!
Oh, duh! I completely forgot about the Rogue Cut! I really, really hope we get to see Rogue save the day and it becomes canon.
I posted this comment on the W/R community page, but I'll post it here, too. Lovely story! I like the idea of focusing on something so specific; and I do think you can tell a lot about a man by his hands and how he uses them. The scene in the hallway where he pulls her into t he shadows and bites a trail down her neck with his teeth was very hot. And the ending was heartwarming. :)
Awesome, sexy story! I like the idea that Rogue would use Logan's memory loss to her advantage - that's one outcome that I didn't expect, and it was a delightful surprise. Oh, and I will never look at warm chocolate chip cookies the same again. :)
Awesome story! Love your fresh take on Logan and Marie in an AU, and so great to see a new author on here. Please don't make it just a one shot--I need to read more from this universe!
So awesome that you have decided to continue this story. I am enjoying it very much. I love Logan's growing attachment to Marie, and the lovely angst that you have created at the end of the chapter with Logan healing Marie and her knowing now that he had originally planned to kill her. This will be interesting to see Marie's inner turmoil when she has time to think things over, and Logan's reaction when he wakes up to find her gone. Can't wait for more!
Nothing is quite going Rogue's way, but even the worst days have their highlights... right alongside the lowlights... and the lets-just-all-agree-to-never-mention-this-again-lights...
I nearly fell off my chair when I received notification that there was a new story by September! You are one of my favorite authors (LOVE More Than a Rogue) so I'm super excited to see that you are still writing Rogan!! Anyways, great story, cute and funny. Hope to see more from you again!
I've been meaning to review sooner than this, but I wanted to say that this story is really good! And it's amazing that it's only your first. This was a great chapter, Logan trying to balance between fending off Rogue's attack without hurting her, while at the same time trying to make her remember. Very touching how he surrendered to her finally and confessed his love. It's too bad he had to clunk her on the head with a rock, though, lol. I wish she would have just fainted from the stress! :) Looking forward to more!
Great chapter, it gets more and more intriguing. I like how Marie is assimilating her dreams with the present; she knows that her destiny is tied to Logan, but she doesn't have it all figured out yet.
Yay! Our first "Logan" fic--before the movie even came out! Thank you for writing this. I will hold it dear to my heart as I huddle in my seat at the theater and cry my eyes out. I choose to believe that your universe is the real one, not the movie. :)
I've been meaning to comment on this story since your first posted; I was seriously excited to see another piece from you.
I really loved this story! You have a way of writing that is very compelling to read. I loved your characterization of Logan and Rogue, and the way you seamlessly mixed comicverse, movieverse, and your own idea of what happened after. I really liked the way you sorted out their complex feelings so skillfully without it being too much, if that makes sense. And I don't think it was OOC for Logan to talk that much. He seems like the type who doesn't talk a lot, unless he has something to say, and then he says it well. He had been holding things in all that time, and this was one of those life changing moments, so it was time to make Rogue understand.
There were so many great lines in this story, but my favorite is:
“Marie,” he called, his voice steady and low and warm. “Look at me.” When she looked up at him, he was still and unmoved, but she could almost see the effort it was taking him to remain so. Logan was never this still except when he was measuring – waiting -- for the right moment to pounce. He waited until her gaze was on him, until she was fully with him, not running through thoughts in her own head, but there, connected. Once she did, he spoke. “You’re mine.”
I seriously got tingles when he said that. :)
I don't think you needed a beta; this story was very well done. But if you ever need to run something by someone, feel free to contact me.
Awesome work--hope to see more from you again soon!
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I was honestly feeling a little like the story had kinda sucked since people have mostly ignored it, so I am really very grateful for your insightful and thoughtful review! Thanks, especially, for answering my question about whether Logan seemed OOC with all his talk at the end. (And for telling me your favorite line -- I love it when people tell me their favorite lines, cuz it's usually a line I wouldn't have thought of as anyone's favorite, so it makes me look at it in a new light). I'm putting the final touches on a sister-shot to my "Cup of Coffee" one-shot. (sister-shot = not a follow-up or prequel, but the same exact chain of events, as told from Logan's pov). And I was inspired by Adele's "All I Ask" to write something, but I'm a little stuck, because by its nature, it has to have some smut in it, and I'm not used to writing that...so, we'll see...lolrnrnIf you'd like to take a look at the sister-shot to Cup of Coffee, I'd love a second pair of eyes on it. rnrnAnyway, thanks! :)
I suspect that a lot of people thought it was a great story, but didn't leave a review; I am guilty of that myself! There are a handful of faithful commenters on this site, so thank goodness for those people. I absolutely love Cup of Coffee; I just checked and I can't believe I didn't leave a review. *hangs head in shame* I always mean to, but then I get distracted and forget to go back to actually write the review.
By the way, I totally squeed when I read that you are writing a sister-shot to Cup of Coffee! I love companion pieces that tell the story from both POVs, and I can't wait to read Logan's take. I would love to take a look at that for you! PM-ing you next!
I just wanted to take a minute to let you know how much I am enjoying your story! I'm on chapter 13 now, but I thought I should go back and start commenting before too much time passes. You have a real talent for writing! I am a picky reader, and your work is so good, such a pleasure to read. So glad that we have another fantastic writer on the WRFA!
Ahhhh, this story is so good! I am so intrigued. I love everything you have written to lead us down this mysterious path, wondering what could be just around the corner. As always, you have such a great way with words that just add so much to the experience. "Speaking took effort, and he seemed to draw the words as one might scrape water from parched well."
Hope the writer's block doesn't hit you too hard again--let me know if you need a beta or if there is anything I can do to help! By the way, are you on A03 or tumblr? I would love to follow you there.
