The Wolverine & Rogue Fanfiction Archive
Barely Legal Since 2000
This is one of the best stories on the board with believable reactions, characterizations, dialog, situations, well-handled use of time-shifting, and grammar. Far and away better than 99.9% of the overwrought, prepubescent stuff ("ooooh, gr8 chappie! mor plz!")that clogs fanfic sites like this. M Jules' "Zero Sum" is a gem!
I enjoyed this story, but have a question...what was the pewter charm Logan bought at the gas station, and what happened to it? Was it something for Marie, and he didn't give it to her, or was it just a throwaway detail that got lost?
Great story! Great capture of Logan's voice on a subject that's integral to understanding his character!
Awww...Love this vulnerable moment...just a fleeting glimpse of his younger self.
Any story hinting at a Logan "before" is a joy to me! Nice job here ... "So very young." Makes me feel for all that he's lost.
I enjoyed this story very much, and especially liked your Logan, still a man so unused to others, and certainly unsed to and mistrustful of another's compassion. I see this is an
old" story...will you/are you writing more Logan/Marie or just Logan stories?
Author's Response: Hi there, geez, thanks for the FB after all this time! There\'s a LOT of half-finished stories sitting in my mind right now, but I have a life at the moment. Keep your fingers crossed that I get a bit of space for them, will you? :-)
The complexities of their feelings for each other magnified and twisted in the sheer horror of their captivity, and then dealing with the emotional damage in the aftermath is just masterful writing. Nothing rushed, nothing farfetched, nothing unbelievably out of character, not just for Logan and Marie, but also for the other X-Men here. Thank you for a beautiful story.
A smirk and a lift of the eyebrow to you...this short story has all the elements of the "Logan protecting Marie" genre -- the distress that she'll leave him, and then the happy realization that they can leave camping full-time and still want to be together. Very nice.
I like the depictions of Logan as tough, then as he watches Marie, vulnerable. A beautiful scene. Will this turn into something longer, perhaps?
Author's Response: I don\'t know if I will return to this or not, yet. But thanks for the fb. Always appreciated. :)
A beautiful story, with Logan and Marie's emotional pain laid bare after the 2-year separation, and Marie setting a pious Scott and Xavier straight on her sense of love.
Author's Response: Thank you for fb I\'m glad you enjoyed it x
Excellent, well-written story from another point of view. The narrator is a wonderful character and close observer. Why this hasn't gotten more comment, is a mystery, as well.
I like that he admits an admiration for Jean - an appreciation, too - but not love. This is a more mature beginning for a real Logan/Marie relationship. Nicely done!

Lovely...a pleasure to read...even after all these years.
Nice, short piece, full of feeling, and he's so tired of running. Marie can return the favor by picking him up and taking him off the road this time. Very nice.
A familiar W/R story covered succinctly -- less is definitely much, much more when handled adroitly.
One of the very best "they meet in a lab" stories. I reread this one from time to time, and never fail to be drawn into their horror...and their hope. Love both of them in this. Great story, very well-written.
I guess there was never a sequel? Oh, well. Merry Christmas, anyway, everyone - especially Marie and Logan!
Author's Response: Thank you and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas too. Funnily enough, I\'ve just written the first chapter in a new story, that might actually be able to pass as a sequel to this. I\'m hoping to post in a week or so ... it\'s called The Wanting Time and is just going to beta today. Thank you for reading - and reviewing!
Wet Logan muse, indeed! I hope he shows up again real soon! Well-written, hot little ficlet.
Without a doubt, these last few paragraphs are the most beautiful and insightful interpretation of the iconic scene that is the core of this fandom and the reason I am still devoted to Logan after all these years and all the disappointing X-men movies later. Thank you!
James? James!! Nuh-uh!! No!! I do not care what "great revelations" have transpired during the Quesada era or what the current Marvel machine wants to do with a loved character. I do not know this James Howlett, whoever he is. My Wolverine will always be Logan...just Logan.
This is one of my all-time favorite stories from one of my all-time favorite authors. The way Logan handles both the older and the younger students without condescending to either group; the way he disappears in the woods, but is still keeping an eye on them; the way Rogue explains the story of their meeting; Scott's testing of Logan's fighting skills in the Danger Room and his discussion with Xavier about Logan as a danger to them and Xavier's thoughts that Logan might be the one in more danger; and Logan's subliminal reaction to "Saving Private Ryan." This is truly one of my very favorite stories and series. Tinhutlady, you are a "Marvel!"
Author's Response: (blushes) It\'s been ten years (?) since I took a chance and wrote this rough little tale. It means a great deal that someone enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Thank you.
I am so glad I have these stories of your - many of which are sequential - all grouped together and printed into a book that I can read and reread and hug to myself! Thank you for this output, tinhutlady. I've always liked to start with this little series which begins with a "no" and ends with a "yes." Simply wonderful writing!
I rather prefer this version of the story - ending, as it does, with him telling one more story to an aged Megan - to the longer version in which he returns a year later.... This is sad and sweet, and is a perfect ending for the collection of your stories I put together. As always, I am happy every time I reread your work.
A thoughtful, view of Logan and his place at the school, told in your wonderfully nuanced style...welcome to this new WRFA, tinhutlady. You are and continue to be one of my favorite writers. I hope your other stories will be making the transition here - although, I love your own site, as well. best wishes to you!
Author's Response: Thank you for such kind words. My apologies that I did not seem them sooner than this, but I am just now figuring out this new archive. Like, today. (LOL) I thought I was still gathering dust in the old one. Once I find out how to post here, I might add to, but really, I don\'t think there would be an audience anymore. Thank you again for your kindness.
