Oh, good stuff. I like the somewhat dystopian set-up you've created for them here. Especially Rogue's knowledge that Logan's dead and her reaction to it (even if we kind of quietly hope that he's not and it's all been a horrible misunderstanding somehow.) It's a compelling start and I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next.
Great detail too, with the colours and flavours to describe people and events. I imagine the inside of Rogue's head at this point is a very interesting, if slightly scary, sort of place.

Ooh. I like the development here. And I also like the changes you made to the previous chapter. They're subtle but enough to steer it back nicely just off the edge of dub-con. Their relationship makes that bit more sense to me now. It's still hot and dark but not so one-sided, which goes a long way to making Logan's character just that tiny (but important) bit more sympathetic.
Good stuff. Looking forward to finding out how Logan's abrupt and rather grumpy departure plays out.

Author's Response: I am very happy to hear your comments. Making sure chapter 2 wasn\'t over the edge was important to me. This Logan and Maire\'s relationship will always be a complex and non traditional one but at its center will be things we all recognize. Again, thank you for the feedback.

I was waiting until I had a day where I could sit and read the whole of this, all in one go, without too many interruptions. Finally had the chance today and was very quickly reminded why I used to badger you so hard about finishing it. I remember the first two thirds or so from when they were originally posted and you left us lingering in the initial aftermath of Rogue's suicide attempt.
I know we had to wait a long time for it, but there could not have been a more gratifying resolution. Hopeful and right, without falling into cliche and happy-ever-after, which is a difficult line to walk and I still admire your ability to take inherently fantastical characters and ground them in a sense of very human, imperfect realism.

Though perhaps it's odd to say for an L/R story that one of my favourite characters in it was Jean. I think you created with her an incredibly likeable incarnation of her character. She was a good person but not perfect. Someone with realistic and tangibly understandable flaws, but well-intentioned and able to recognise her failing when it's due.
Logan and Rogue both had moments when they wanted for a sharp kick to the shins, but then so do a great deal of real-life people, so while their cross-purposed miscommnication was at times painful to watch unfold it was impossible to want anything but a happy ending for them after they'd both suffered so much just for lack of clear understanding.
In all, I'm so glad I had time today to take in this story in one go. And I'm so, so glad you finished it.
