Hey everyone! I have decided to put together my own archive of fics and writings, and I've pulled my fics down while this is in progress. Don't worry. I'll be back with updates and a link! With more Rogan fanfic, too. I've got two or three persistent bunnies yet. If in the meantime you'd like a copy of one of my fics, just send me an email.

Thanks to everyone who has read my stories and everyone who has left fb. It was so great to hear from you! I hope to see you at my new archive when it is up and running.

The course of true love...it never did run smooth. Rogue's inner Marie is causing havoc... or was it the other way round?

Oh. Rogue is adorable, too. The 'came' joke made snort (uncharacteristically) loudly. I'm a little upset about it, because I was drinking Dt. Mt. Dew at the time. *mops keyboard primly*

Oh, lovely series. It's incredibly sweet and funny, the right mixture of light angst and light foof. I'm sorry it's so short. Looking forward to the next chapters.

Author's Response: LoL - Sorry \'bout that! *hands over one of Logan\'s tissues for keyboard* I\'m glad you\'re enjoying it! I think that there\'s an awful lot of me in this Rogue, more so than any other fic I’ve written. I am totally renowned for meaning to say one thing, and actually coming out with something completely different! *g*

you know, these things were never perfect.
***
But you know - it *is*. The jitters are perfect. The scattered thoughts are perfect. The self-deprecating, very unsure, random thoughts, and the very random, *completely* inappropriate responses are perfect, too. *face palm*

And the courage that's in there somewhere, that definitely benefits from a feeling of disbelief, the strong currents of want and desire that are enough to overcome embarrassment, that are enough to stop thought and encourage action.

He wants it, too? How lovely, how unexpected, how completely unreal! Yes, let's grab it now, while we can. Before changes his mind. Before I wake up.

That's what's perfect about this series--all the mistakes! *lol* That's what makes it fantasy and reality all at once. Hehe - that's what makes me *envy* your talents at pulling that off.

Now...on to 7. Hee!

Author's Response: Thanks *g*! Yeah sometimes I think the mistakes are the best bit when it comes to ...*searches brain for unsmutty reference...*...Ahha! Romance! At least that\'s what I tell myself as I put my foot in my mouth yet *again*! And I agree, that\'s what makes it perfect!

The course of true love...gathers no moss. *g* That's what makes this fic feel so good even though we know where it's going from the first, even though there's no surprise.

It was always ending up here--even with the trip ups of German porn, and Rogue avoiding him at first, and him suspecting that she engages in three-ways, and the ever-important question of shaved legs and who has the condom?

And yet we're rooting so hard for these characters, and you've let us put ourselves in their positions all the way--it's exactly the pay-off we wanted. It may not be 'smooth' but it's straight, and it was uncomfortably funny and embarrassingly real the whole way.

(Oh, and loved the part about Dr. Hank--I heard Kelsey Grammar's deep voice singing that, and that made it even better. *g*)

Loved this fic. Just perfect.

Author's Response: LoL - yeah it was inevitable wasn\'t it! *g* And I never can resist the temptation of Hank...*g* \"And yet we\'re rooting so hard for these characters, and you\'ve let us put ourselves in their positions all the way--it\'s exactly the pay-off we wanted. It may not be \'smooth\' but it\'s straight, and it was uncomfortably funny and embarrassingly real the whole way.\" That\'s EXACTLY what I wanted to pull off with this fic! Woohoo!!! Thanks so much for saying that! *hugs*

His fingers stroked her cheek absently, and he looked up and caught Chuck's look from across the back of the limo. His fingers stilled and then slid back to her neck.

He'd have to wait.
****

Oh, that part turned a little creepily cold and possessive in a shiver-y way. It's calculated, the way he looks up at Chuck, the way he brushes her cheek, the way she doesn't notice. Like he's claiming it more now because he can't yet have it. He's guarding her.

Great contrast to the sadness and yearning throughout the rest of the fic - how scared he is, how vulnerable, how much he seems to need her even if he's not sure she's enough for him, if he's enough for her.

Subtle shifts of emotion, complicated. I liked this very much.

Logan and Rogue wonder if their friendship is the only thing that has survived the War.

I've always liked this story, and it didn't disappoint this time either. I love how Rogue tries to deflect with humor, how Logan tries to feel things through and act without thinking. He should trust his feelings more - they wouldn't lead him astray. Rogue, on the other hand, doesn't trust her feelings, only her thoughts. It's slower for her. I think she deals with her conscience more, not her fear. But it's right for her, too. It's right for both of them.

And I like the way the relationship between them slowly unfurls and becomes more, as though all the shit that happens to them was their chance to be together, to take the risk, to be bold enough to want it all. I love that their love for each other makes them too cowardly to try and take it all, and then makes them realize that they should grasp it no matter what that ends up meaning.

One of my favorite stories, Abelard. Although...there was far more smut than I remember. *g* I wonder how I forgot that? Heh.

The Wolverine tries to get Logan's attention on the subject of mating.

I like the idea that Wolverine is the knowledgable one, the one with memories, the one who tethers Logan to his fate. It's also a great conversation in your head when you've got a bullet in the brain and you're talking to your alter-ego. :)

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed this.

All Wolverine, huh? After all he's tried to do, all the man he's tried to build? He lost it, chunk by chunk: first his little compound, then his fancy mutant truck, then his capture, saved by Marie. But what really hurt, I think, was Camo. He killed the animal meant for Marie, but he became that animal to do that, too. At least in his own mind. In Marie's mind, most of all. And now he's back, not even thinking again. Poor Logan.

Will Marie with her powers to absorb and project come into play again? I imagine that would heal him, and maybe it's time for her to play the savior this time. Maybe it's time for her to claw back at his humanity.

Oh, poor both of them.

Author's Response: We won\'t see much Marie in this part, I think. I hope. She\'s not very compatible with Wolverine. Logan\'s a different matter, but he\'s not home at the moment.

Reviewer: Gamma meta Signed
Date: 01/15/2007 Title: Chapter 7: Chapter 6

Oh, Ara. This is what I was afraid of after last chapter--that she'd eventually end up enjoying it and it would tear them apart. Marie would feel guilty and shame and need Logan then, need forgiveness. And Logan would be feeling the same, would be unable to take away that shame through touch. It'd be eating up at him, too. Because how can she ever trust him again? And really, isn't that a *very* good question--if he can turn into Wolverine at any time, as he's shown up until this point, what's to stop that happening again? Can she *ever* be safe with Logan if she's not safe with Wolverine?

And Logan loved her for her innocence and purity, and if in his own mind, he's the one to extinguish that--what then? Does he put behind him forever the desire to be man?

And for her, this was her greatest fear--more than capture, more being found out. She never wanted Camo's eager, animal fucks, destined to reproduce in a lab, and now she's raped (and sure to be impregnated) by the only man she's ever trusted, too.

And I think this chapter shows that *he's* being raped, too, really--with the drugs, by the guards. A mindfuck.

How absolutely *horrible* for both of them. But you know--as terrible as this all is, you still haven't made me *hate* Wolverine. He's...I don't know how I'd describe him, but he's been made this way. This is the way he copes, and this is how he wants and lives. He's closed and determined and brutal, but it's always a necessary brutality. It's somehow always a reflection of what's been done to him and what he must do to survive. If it weren't how it was with Marie, I'd almost be glad he'd found his *something*. If only it wasn't her, if only it wasn't this.

*shudder* It's so raw, these last few chapters. They're so short, and yet I seem to be able to feel and see everything. Incredible writing. *pleads* Please make it better?

Author's Response: To Logan this doesn\'t tarnish her innocence. She isn\'t volunteering to this. Even Wolverine seems to realize that. Actually Logie has been quite mad at me lately because I listened to Wolverine rather than wrote what he wanted me to write. This part of the story is called Destroyer for a reason. Something must come down and be Destroyed before they can start building again. Don\'t know yet what it is, but I\'m sure Wolverine will tell it to me eventually.

Dammit! If she could do that, why didn't she do that sooner? *rolls eyes* Like, maybe when she was captured in the first place? Or sent into the orgy torture chamber first? Or when she was being raped, maybe? *sighs*

Ok. Maybe she can only pull that out when she's threatened with more than herself. When she's faced with losing someone else, too. Dammit! That's an inconvenient mutation, though. :)

Oh, Ara, what am I going to do with you? (I only get this upset with stories I like, though.) Poor Wolverine, too. If he knows how to kill himself, he must never have wanted to die before. Interesting.

Author's Response: Marie doesn\'t know how to use her secondary mutation. Logan has that pesky healing factor, which wasn\'t working right now, so he thought he would have a chance to finish all.

It’ll be just the two of us and all the fucking snow you could ever want to.

Reeks?

Such a quiet melancholy running throughout, and then reeks? This actually reminded me of Porphyria's Lover by Browning. Logan is jealous, he is mad, but he's got her in death. But I think what makes me love him, what makes this melancholy instead of creepy, is that Logan still counts himself lucky, still humbles himself, still so clearly yearns for what he never thinks he deserves--and then we learn he'll never gain it, because it's gone.

'You always knew what buttons to push'. How true, Ara. Deceptive, sly. I'll love your Logan forever, even when you make him mad like this. :)

Author's Response: Duh. Tells, much about the level of my education, when I first tried to find a fic named \"Porphyria\'s Lover\". Found the poem. I\'m flattered. And loved that poem. I don\'t read poetry, it\'s not my cup of tea, but this one was interesting. \"Snow\" actually started completely different. All day long kept seeing Logan and Marie sitting in a beat-up pontiac on a deserted beach. Logan was talking, Marie wasn\'t. No matter how hard I tried to write it, it didn\'t work. Then I got back home, wrote next chappie to Destroyer and thought I would give Logan and Marie one more shot before going to sleep. \"Snow\" wrote itself in about ten minutes. For a moment I was going to delete it, but decided to post it here anyway. What\'s the worst that could happen? Nobody reads it. And I could have lived with that, too. Logan mad? Hey, he just kept his promise. Okay, his girl was dead already, but it\'s never too late.

*lol* I think it says a lot more about my high school English teacher's taste than anything about your education level.

But mad? Yes, I stand by my statement:
"You’re pretty quiet. I don’t mind"

" I pull over to a truck stop and check that you’re comfortable. I could go and get us some coffee, but you looked exhausted earlier. I let you sleep, and keep on driving. I’m not really hungry myself either."

Tell me that is not madness? He is either in deep denial, or that is madness.

But this is what sounds really strange to me:
"You love the snow, but I think it’s little too deep; you fucking drown in it or something."
Because, lol, it sounds like he tried to set her on her feet first!

So, yeah, Ara. I think he may be a little crazy. I know he made her a promise, but...poor Logan. *pets him*

Reviewer: Gamma meta Signed
Date: 01/19/2007 Title: Chapter 6: Chapter 6

This is one of the most pyschologically complex series you've ever written. No, I think it is *the* most complex of any. Your Marie isn't acting at all as she usually acts. I would say her behavior in Warrior was much more like your typical Marie - young, malleable, extremely attractive to Logan, sexually inexperienced but at the same time precocious, extremely reliant on touch to communicate, willing to follow, expressing reservations but willing to have them overcome by the more dominant Logan.

But by the end of Warrior, your Marie had a new power that was far more powerful than Logan's. You set up an interesting power dynamic in which Logan realized how much more powerful she was than him, how much more he needed her than she needed him, but she was unable or unwilling to exercise that power, even when it might cost her her life. And so Logan continued to hold the upperhand even though it was dangerous, even though his alter-ego could cause her harm. He was still in protector mode, although she was most at risk from himself.

And then she suffered some kind of break when Logan killed Camo - like she suddenly realized that she was powerless in her relationship with Logan, that she could control nothing about him or herslef when she was ith him. She realized that the fact that she consented and loved him was almost beside the fact when he could destroy Camo, become Wolverine so completely. Then in Destroyer, she actually experiences exactly what it is like when she *doesn't* consent or love.

But the interesting thing for me now is how she's handling herself here. Yes, I think she's trying to protect herself a bit too much and trying to keep Sam a bit too close, but she's intrepid, out in the real world, too. She's trained herself, she's hardened herself. She hasn't forgotten, but she uses her fears. And I *cannot* imagine any other incarnation of Marie fighting Logan in the cage like that, or being able to separate Sam and Logan, or telling her son that she was raped, or refusing to let Logan hold her when he asked. I wish she wasn't so badly scarred, but this Marie is tougher. And she's not crumbling when she can't get her way, either - she's adapting. It's like she knows how much she can endure, and she's determined to protect herself this time but she's not about to overdramatize anything either. Calculated risks, controlled assessment, weighing up her options. Even now, when she knows she can't stop Logan from following, she hasn't given up the fight. I think your other Marie's might have submitted after initial resistance. Logan always overpowered her eventually, and later it never seemed to matter.

Of course Logan's interior life is interesting, too. I have always been attracted to your Logan. He's what drew me into your early stories, when Marie was still just young and innocent and the one he wanted to touch. But I like the balance in him here between Wolverine and Logan, and how you can feel those two personalities merging a bit now - this world is about weighing survival with morality. Survival isn't his only morality, but it plays a large role, and it's interesting to me that Logan/Wolverine feels he actually deserves things for himself - he usually deserves life, humanity, comforts, even. That's part of his fight. Other times, I think, your Logan has been driven to despair and reckless marytrdom. But no despairing creature would survive this world.

And though I usually don't like fics with children, I think the clash between Sam and Wolverine/Logan will be interesting. I think that will break down the barriers between Marie & Logan more than anything else. So I'm glad it's a component to this story. And I'm interested to see where their mutations, where this world takes these characters next. :)

Sorry to hear the next chapters will be long in coming. This fic has already spawned so many ideas for me, but I love that it's never what I expect. Much better that way. Now I just have to wait. :)

Author's Response: Not long, next chappie is almost finished. Needs few more words and then quite a lot of polishing, but I\'ll be posting it today. *I* don\'t like fics with children, but I think this is a bit different. Sam isn\'t a toddler that is clinging to Marie\'s apron strings. He\'s a grown man, trying to find his own life. Now that Logan came back, it looks like he\'s going to have to postpone those plans, at least for a while. Plus, I don\'t want him to leave, not just yet. I kind of like him. Both Logan and Marie are quite different than they were in Warrior. Warrior was the part that gave them all the basics. Destroyer left them with nothing. Either of them hasn\'t actually handled things that happened at the breeding center. Now it\'s between Logan and Sam, but eventually Marie and Logan will have to face eachother. I refuse to end this before everything is okay between them. :)

“Logan, I have been alone all my life. I can take care of myself. I’m not that naïve kid you met twenty years ago. She died in that cell.”

No, she's definitely not anymore. But I think she's right that she's too afraid.
"but if she turned that fear around, directed it to Logan instead of the rest of the world, she could keep going."
In a sick, twisted way, I know exactly what she means. She can fear one thing more and make that most. She survived that. She can deal with everything but that. Yet, interestingly, she still hugged him after the convoy went by. She initiated that hug even. It's becoming clear even to her that it's not truly Logan she fears, but the symbol of what he did to her.

"Every bit of information she had gotten from him had diminished the fear, made her see the man instead of the animal."

Is Wolverine really gone for good then? I see that Logan even remembers everything that happened when he was Wolverine.

"She could have stopped him. She could have if she had bothered to learn how to use the mutation she gained at the Free Zone. One small cold cloud of blue dust, and there would have been left only the adamantium frame of his skeleton, not much good to anything else but to serve maybe as a coat rack."

Wow. He's blaming her for the rape, just as she's blaming him. Unfairly, both side. Nice symmetry. And incredible. This is not standard for your Logan, but this is completely human. And I think it explains how he survived all these years.

But I don't think they really blame each other. I think they fear to blame themselves. And they both have huge fears about themselves they'll have to overcome before they can start over--Marie's mutation and Logan's Wolverine. Oh! I hope they make it.

A part 4 in the series? *crooked grin* Bring it ON, ara!

Author's Response: In the cell line between Logan and Wolverine got distorted. Logan was partly awake and aware of Wolverine\'s actions. I don\'t think Wolverine\'s gone. He\'s just sulking. In a way Army betrayed him. He was there, partly cooperative, willing to make an honest effort for the cause. Instead of waiting patiently they forced him. That nifty machine finally made him run. Before it was Logan hiding behind him, now Wolverine is hiding behind Logan. Yeah, Logie is a tad more selfish in this one than usually in my fics, but I think he\'s entitled to it. Part 4 is a must. There\'s so many unresolved issues floating around, and I can\'t stuff them all in to this one. There\'s only so much we can blame only Logan for... ;)

What if you could have everything you ever wanted? What would you do? How much would it cost and would it even be worth it? [Archivist's Notes: It is unlikely that this story will ever be finished. Read at your own risk!]

The lies get deeper and deeper in this fic. I love the way we're starting to see the psychosis of Jean's mind, making Rogue crazier even than she has been. Everyone seems so impotent in this fic--unable to cope. Nobody knows what to do.

Logan doesn't know if he wants Rogue or Jean. He wants to be the good guy, and that desire prevents him from pressing his advantage as the bad guy. Rogue wants to be whatever Logan wants her to be - but the other half of it is that he doesn't actually want her to be herself. Or so she thinks. Jean is torn, and she doesn't know who *she* wants to be.

God, the angst! I love how deeply you're weaving this. Incredibly interesting. Plot bunnies everywhere. *bunnies bouncing off the walls*

Ah...I assumed so. The timeline of events is somewhat confusing, but somewhere in my confusion, I decided that this was the only way it could be. Thus the Phoenix's actions are understood. Even Logan's actions with Marie in his bed.

This makes Logan's dilemma about who to kill or love less poignant. But it doesn't detract from Marie's choice. She chose in good faith to 'give up' her body to Jean, and that's still a deeply tragic position. Now perhaps the journey is to see how to get Marie back and kill the Phoenix - persuade Marie that she can be loved for herself. Poor Marie.

Lovely tension in this chapter. The thud of the 'TAP', the tension as Logan realized what no one else did, the ordinariness of the actual dialogue compared to what was going on inside.

I'm hooked. Can't wait to find out what happens next.

“I get to have both?… That means I’m lucky right?”

Children are so wise sometimes. And then not, too. *lol* I love the way you write Jamie - oblivious and selfish and a bit of a babbler. Like a lot of children I know. Takes it all in stride as the parents fall apart a bit. Yup - that's what happens.

"How she looked, the way her hair stuck up in certain places, her scent, how small her fingers were.

Logan wanted to remember it all.

He wanted to remember just in case it was all a hideously cruel dream.

At least that way, he’d have a very developed figment of his imagination to work with; something he could at least pretend was his. "

Great ending to the chapter. It's the small details that make it powerful - the "hair stuck up in right places", the smallness of her fingers.

And it's much more real and moving that Logan is still processing this. He's not thinking of the future. He's not thinking of how much past he missed. He's thinking that this moment must be the moment that he remembers every part of. And I think his fixation on pretending, on what's *his*, shows that this fic is really a journey about Logan losing himself. He doesn't really know who he is. He's lost it. He doesn't believe good things happen to him. And he's been pretending, even after his escape, that it's alright.

New possibilities. Eager to see what happens next.
(Oh, and by the way!, I love the way you deal with plot so pithily. *admiration*)

“She asked for a pony last Christmas, do you think I bought it for her?! God, I bust my ass on a daily basis for lousy tips… I can’t afford to get Jamie expensive toys, but I do with what I got. Now you mosey on in like some kind of year round Santa and give in to her fantasy. I worked hard to teach my daughter the value of things that money can’t buy… you’re ruining that. Stop trying to buy her… she needs a father, not an ATM machine!”

Hehe - genius. I love your Rogue. Very articulate. Strong. Not willing to take crap. And also, sometimes, wrong.

This was my favorite Marie moment:
“Are you lying again?”

“… Yes.”

That's so wonderful! I really dig that self-deprecating, humorous honesty. Heh. Oh, and if only Logan were to hear, I'm sure he'd fall in love, too.

Sweet at the end. I'm glad they made a go of it. I'm not entirely certain it was love that drew them together. In fact, I'm pretty sure it wasn't. But I can funnily enough see it working anyway - see the love developing because they both want family and stability and love so badly. Because they're both survivors, honest, compromising, and willing to work hard. They're both willing to listen, as evidenced in their second make-up conversation, and they're both open to love, too.

So...*hugs them*...this was rather wonderful. So glad it ended well, after you were so mean to them at first. :)

I don't know. I went to a supermarket once... that's my only explanation.

A fic about nothing, but so funny nonetheless!

I loved every time one of the women said Scott or Logan's name. I could just hear the gradations in tone and see the expression on their face, just with that. *lol*

Scott (whispers): Who’s whipped now?

Logan (lowered voice, not quite a whisper): Keep it up and I’ll circumcise you.

Heh. My favorite lines in the fic.

You are so good at these!

I've never been to IHOP, so I sent my two favorite couples there.

Logan: Fun for who?

*lol* I loved that line. You really got the impression that these four friends were bickering and teasing each other over breakfast. Love Rogue mouthing 'homophobic'. And the way Scott and Logan ended up daring each other to try the fruity meal. Great stuff. You certainly have a way with dialogue.

Being ensnared doesn't necessarily mean just being captured.

Very visual sex scene, and I loved the way the subtle shifts that indicated that Logan (and Marie) were in charge, even if they let Pyro play. A complex threesome. Very well-drawn.

But the ending makes it seem like there are more adventures in store? ;)
