Barely Legal Since 2000
Amazing series!! The way you blended your concept of Southhaven with X1 was impressive. Your dialogue was so clever, and many times had me laughing out loud.
My favorite line: "Only – Hell, if he can’t cop to it now, as the last bit of his too long life is sucked out of him to be put to decent use, then when? – He would’ve stuck around this time. He would have. And maybe, a piece down the road, neither of them paying too close attention, Logan would’ve given his life to Marie a different way." --ahhh, so perfect!
Fantastic story!
Wow. This was an amazing story. Brilliant. I love the roller coaster ride you just took me on! The part where Marie dies, and the part about Etch and the tags---omg, tears were flowing. You are truly a gifted writer.
Author's Response: I thank you very, very much for your kind words and for letting me know what you liked. I appreciate your taking the time to read and comment!
Wow. Love this story. So well written, so touching. I would love to read a follow-up to this!
Love, love, loved this! Well written, perfect pace, loved the flashbacks and your Logan/Marie voices. The ending was so perfect. I have warm fuzzies now!!
Great story and an interesting premise! Marie really must love Logan to go up against him in the cage. Their reunion at the end was sweet!
Loved this story! I'm marking it as one of my favorites. So much in just 3 chapters! I really like the way we see Logan's thought process and the way things transitioned from beginning to end. Even though he was kind of a bastard, especially when he had the nerve to get jealous and possessive, it was still hot. I like my characters flawed, and the way you wrote Logan and Marie was awesome to read. And the end? Beautiful and perfect and believable. Loved!! A great, well-crafted story.
Please come back and tell us what happens!!! Love it so far, and I'm dying to read more!
Beautiful story! Love your writing style.
Amazing story! So sad yet beautiful. I cried like a baby! You are a very talented writer--your work is poetic. Love the switching POV, and the way they story slowly unfolds itself through their narratives, almost like we are the ones trying to remember. The part where their memories come back to them in flashes at the end nearly killed me. Thank you for the wonderful story!
You have woven a wonderful story here. Loved reading about the beloved x-men 30 years later! Bittersweet and beautiful.
Oh, that was good. What a fantastic companion piece to Murder of One! When I read Diebin's original story, I never even imagined another side of the coin like this. More than just a simple Logan POV, the possessiveness and the twist you put on it left me speechless. I bow to you and Diebin, two goddesses of Rogan fiction!
This was just beautiful. So well written, and the angst brought tears to my eyes. You know you're reading something really good when you can feel pangs in your chest. LOVED IT!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for writing this final installment! I love angst, but I love it even more when it ends with a glimmer of hope. I thought the part where Marie waffles back and forth as she cleans was adorable and funny. And the kiss at the baseball game? Swoon! Your writing is awesome--thanks for the wonderful ride!
I don't know if you receive comments or messages any more, but I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your story, and how talented you are! What's even more amazing is that you wrote this when you were 17.
I love your Rogue voice, and the way you allowed the story of Rogue's coming of age and relationship with Logan unfold in such a real and believable way. I also liked the way you portrayed Rogue's inner struggle with her powers and the people she absorbed. The way you showed the country's debate over the MRA and hatred/fear of mutants was very realistic.
I really liked the ending, and how it leaves us open to a real possibility of a positive future for Logan and Rogue....but I admit I would have really loved to see an epilogue! :)
Awesome story--thank you for all your hard work!
Oh, I just love this story. Your characterizations of Logan and Rogue are so good. And the ending? *Swoon*. "And you think I'd settle with something less than what I actually want."--Love this
! I held my breath when Logan said his "I know you" part, and finally let it go with a "wow" when he said "Tell me you love me. Tell me it wasn't a mistake...". Fantastic story!
I am really loving this story so far! I really like your Logan-voice. The part in this chapter where Jean stings him with her words about the good guy sticking around was sad. I really liked hearing Logan's thoughts when that happens; it makes it all the more heartbreaking. By the way, you are one of my favorite authors! :)
This was a great chapter to read. Logan's frustration with the students and his narrative are hilarious. And the part where he doesn't know how to deal with Marie being sick is funny, too-- especially when he thinks he is supposed to get her root beer.
The part in the end where each sentence begins with "I wonder why..." And then we come to the conclusion with "Oh. *Oh*"--love that! I swear my insides got all tickly and squishy when I read that.
You have such a gift with words!
"Jean was wrong. The Good Guy doesn't stick around. The Good Guy leaves." --Love this line. So much said in just those words.
"Lo-having feelings for her?" Logan's little slip-up made me smile.
And when Logan finally confesses his feelings...the way he stammers and then closes his eyes expecting the worst...and Marie's answer...o.m.g. I can't even put into words...
This was beautiful; their first tme was the perfect blend of sexy, tender, and sweet.
I love the way Logan enjoys all of Marie's little nuances while she sleeps the morning after.
I lack the words to articulate all the things I loved about the ending, but I will try. I loved how it seemed like Logan was about to take off again, without Marie, and it's not until the end that we can see how his thoughts about taking off could be misconstrued.
I love how nervous he is before proposing. How he asks for his tags back, and the narrative of the hurt that Marie shows on her face -"like watching a vase shattering"--such a fantastic analogy!
And finally, I love the line after he leaves Xavier's office..."There's only one end to this. There's only ever been one. "...and then the closure we get at the end with "And there was only ever one end to this."
This ending made me want to do a happy dance!
One last thing--I love how you managed to make Logan masculine and tough, yet vulnerable and sensitive, and seriously funny, all at the same time. You really balanced everything perfectly and in a believable way. Oh, and even though it was a small part, your characterization of Jubilee was awesome. :)
Thank you for writing such a wonderful story, one that I will definitely return to read again and again!
I can't even tell you how much I love this story. Just perfection. I love How you tell both Logan and Marie's point of view, and going back and forth from present day falling apart to the past as they fall in love. I love all the seemingly mundane details that add richness and realism to the story (the sugar scrub, the pepper blowing from the air conditioner, the reed sticking to her arm and soft moss growing on the leg of the pier, the gold detail on the outlet cover, etc. etc.). And thank you for giving us a little hope at the end of the story. I don't think I could have handled it otherwise! Well done--you are truly talented.
Beautiful story--but so sad. I'm a happy-ending kind of girl, but I still liked how everything was written!
This story was heartbreaking and beautiful! Love!!
Maybe she would freeze to death before she succumbed to her injuries.
This was a beautiful story, so well-written! Love the conversations she has with hallucination-Logan, and how she knows it's only a hallucination, but finds comfort in having him there with her. It's so heart-wrenching, but there is a beauty in the pain. Please, please, just a little more--we need closure! One more chapter? Epilogue? :)
Author's Response:
Something is percolating, but I can\'t promise it will see the light of day.
I really like this unique take on the roles of Rogue, Sabretooth, and Logan. More, please!!
