Oh wow.

What a fantastic job you are doing with this. My heart was just pounding at the end!

Hope it is kosher to update this given that it was technically complete before...this is actually the second fanfic I wrote, but I've never been happy with it. Now that I've got a little more experience under my belt, I decided to rework it. I've added a section, and reworked the second half to resolve some point of view and other issues. Overall, though, it might seem very familiar if you read it the first time around. It's about half angst, half smut.

I remember reading this story a while back and I was just at the edge of my seat when Rogue heard the sound of his claws in the forest lol! I was like - please oh please oh please let her catch him in the act of watching her and of course, you did not disappoint. Very well described, as usual, and I caught your changes. I enjoyed your story before and I still do, very much! Great stuff. :)

Author's Response: Thanks so much for reviewing! I\'m so glad you liked it, and that I managed to draw you to the edge of your seat. ;-)

Rogue's life has become pretty complicated after Alkali Lake. Logan's gone, Christmas is coming, and her relationship with her friends consists mostly of notes left in strange and unlikely places. Ororo gets the brilliant idea to teach the kids the Joy of the Envelope, and now a total stranger knows more about her than anyone else. Told through letters, emails, and notes from Secret Societies, like in Feeling Sorry For Celia

I really like this - the whole flow of it - the different tones from the different "societies". Very subtle too. I hope you continue with this story, I remember it a while back and seeing it updated was a really nice surprise. Your writing style is very easy flowing and emotive without excessive wording - well done and ***holding out bowl*** more please! :)

Author's Response: Thanks so much :) I got too distracted with school this semester so updating took a bit of a break. I also wanted to make sure I had enough chapters stored up so I didn\'t go long stretches again without updating. More will be coming soon! :)

Fantastically written, as always. I don't know how you do it, but each of the characters in this chapter just jumped out at me, making me really care for them. This is such a wonderful story, and your wrting is superb. :)

Author's Response: Wow, that is such a compliment! Thank you. I know a care about them a lot but it is nice to see that they come out that way on the page. Thanks for reviewing!

Well.

First off, the introspection was phenomenal. Really. One of the best inner dialogues that I have ever come across for Marie. It read so easily, with superb flow, I was completely pulled into your story. And, at risk of sounding repetitive, I think your story ranks right up with the best of them. I am so happy that this chapter has paved the way for more because I cannot WAIT to read what happens in that bar!

Good throw in about Quebec!!!! :)

Stars from me too.

So many things I like about this story - the Japanese speaking? BRILLIANT. Following the example of not looking in Logan's eyes? DOUBLE BRILLIANT. I just love your story!! :)

Author's Response: Thank you! I love knowing what\'s working, so this was really helpful. I\'m so glad you like it! :)

Wow.

A lot has happened! That was quite a ride - from meeting Keltie and her dad, to the pool and almost dying, and then Ororo getting angry...WHEW!

What a great job, you are really good, especially considering how you are getting this story across through the use of letters. Now I can hardly wait for Rogue's reaction to all of this! :)

Oh geez. I was laughing so hard at the beginning of your latest chapter (simply priceless - the banter between Rogue and John), and then you have to break my heart!

This story is killing/thrilling me. Love it, as usual! :)

Oh man, things are just getting all kinds of crazy now. Love how "The Association of Teenagers" have withdrawn her membership, and as for her letter to Logan?

:(

I cannot wait, seriously, I just CAN'T, for your next update. I could just imagine Logan's reaction to reading her letter, the man is going to lose his mind. And I am SO proud of Rogue. She really is growing up, isn't she? Awesome job!

Marie thought she needed a cure. Logan thought he needed answers. Turns out fulfilling a need is a lot less satisfying than accepting a want – but no less achingly complicated.

First part in the Use Somebody series. Post-X3, the architects of Marie's cure and Logan's amnesia conspire within the government. Only together can Marie and Logan break their cycles of self-destruction and stop a war they were never meant to start.

Yet another wonderfully written, full bodied chapter. I think you should submit this story to the powers that be over there in Marvel Land. You understand and have such an amazing grasp of all the X-Men inhabitants. And yes, I completely agree about how Marie would still remember fragments of people who used to be in her mind. Your analogy of why is spot on. Great story, I really appreciate the time and effort you put into making this a very thorough and realistic story.

You have a real gift here, the way you are able to describe the interactions between the different characters are very realistic. I absolutely love the fact that you are so knowledgeable about John Wraith and his relationship with Logan. In the comics, he did have access to Logan's healing factor, all of them did (Sabretooth, SilverFox et all) although I know you focus on the movies more. I truly enjoyed reading this new installment and look forward to more.

Marie's a little crazy. Logan's a little farther south than he should be. Everyone's a little worried about the political climate in the nation.
A long and mixed up AU containing our favorite cast of characters, in which Logan and Marie try to live their lives peacefully (yeah right).

Great work here, interesting how Norbert had taken on its own persona in Rogue's mind as a companion to her imposed captivity. Using Shakespeare to give Norbert a distinctive voice is quite frankly, wanderbar!

Love the interaction with Jubilee, Kitty and Logan. Fantastic story, I really love it! :)

Author's Response: Thank you! I love Kitty, Jubes and Logan together, too. They make me smile.

You had my brain working on this, LOL!

Your crazy Rogue is great - I love how thrown Logan is by her and his growing sense of protection. Xavier is going to have his work cut out for him for sure.

Author's Response: Working in a good way or in a bad one? I\'m hoping the former. Glad you\'re liking her. I think she\'s pretty great too.

"...home of lost causes, and forsaken beliefs, and unpopular names, and impossible loyalties!" -Matthew Arnold

A Brotherhood Rogue is betrayed and finds herself in the middle of a very fractured team of X-Men after she kills one of their own. Now she has to figure out what Carol was & still is up to while juggling a tentative friendship with Jubilee, a growing resentment for the Professor, and a distracting attraction to the growling feral mutant who was sleeping with the woman she killed.

I really enjoyed this chapter (like all the others) and the interplay between Logan and Rogue is great. He's rough around the edges but still the good guy despite his behaviour otherwise in the beginning of your story. So true too how Rogue would be apprehensive in his presence considering that her only other experience with a feral is Sabretooth and he's just plain nasty.

I'm here. :)

Your update at least gave me the excuse to re-read your story again, which, I must say, was EXTREMELY enjoyable.

SOrry to hear about life knocking you upside the head - hopefully things are getting better.

As for this story - it's so good, and I have to really commend you for returning to it after all your lows. I loved the interaction with both Pyro and Jubilee, very realistic. You've got me all "thinky", wondering what's going on with Carol...

Author's Response: Yay! Best roll call turn out ever! You re-read the entire thing?! Holy crap! That makes me smile so much my face hurts :D I have to apologize for getting you all \"thinky\". \"Thinky\" is terrible. I promise to balance it out with Wolverine hotness in the near future!

And through the pain, through the pain she mourns it. Mourns the loss of the child she was, of the adult she thought she’d be. Back when things were simple, easy, linear. When life followed a logical course, and she could tell you where she’d be in one year. Five. Ten.

Speck. Tack. You. Lar. I savoured each and every word. Thank you for giving this - just, really - WOW.

Author's Response: Thank you!! *bounces* You have no idea how wonderful that is to hear. I\'m thrilled that you enjoyed :-D

Rogue could almost taste his presence. Feel his hands as he guided her through the postures, see the bead of sweat making its way down the planes of his back as he turned away from her. She had to blink to chase away the fantasy: he wasn’t here yet. He might not want to come with them. With her. She had left him for dead, after all.

I don't know what to write. Stunned, yes, I am that, but the word doesn't come close to what I feel right now.

Short chapter? Oh, I don't think so. I don't remember ever reading something that took hold of me so emotionally and smacked me around like a rag doll.

You lull us in with the idyllic scene of satiated lovers, give us fair warning with the introduction of the cold calculation of the puppetmaster initiating this nightmare only to whip us unmercifully into this massacre.

The mundane school day turned to a slaughter, the chore of going to the bank transformed into blunt murder, the execution of innocents by the physician that previously lived only to save them, the realization from a good man that things were darker than he could have ever imagined...

I don't know what to think, Ms. Jaq. Only you could make macabre into something so piercingly real and breath-stealing. So very, very well done.

Author's Response: I\'m so relieved ... I wasn\'t sure about the choppiness of it all, whether or not I pulled off the quick swings from one perspective to the next. I wanted that almost surreal feel, that sense of the macabre juxtaposed with the domestic! Thank you, times a million!

Do it again,” he growled. And all of a sudden, practice looked like a fine thing.

Now, that, is Wolverine. Love it, your Logan and Marie are so powerful, when I saw that you updated, I had to settle in with my coffee first because I know I was going to savour each and every word.

Omigod, you just made me laugh SO hard!! This morning when I woke up, I fully intended to ignore my familial duties to read your update, but when the kids were sent off to school with what must have been, the most saddest bunch of lunches yet, I forced myself to go out and buy them some real sustenance!! Then I get to the end of your most EXCELLENT chapter yet, and lo and behind, we are in the same basket LOL!! Thanks for the solidarity comrade, its not just me then! K, now on to my review: Everything, of course, but this is my favourite:

Love your Jubilee - very spot on!

The one person who actually gave a shit about him. The one woman who wanted more than the animal. The one, he admitted, as he looked into her eyes. And wasn’t that a fucking terrifying thought.

Did you hear that?

That was the sigh that escaped me when I read that line. Beautiful stuff - your words are mind candy. I loved this chapter, well worth the wait! :)

Author's Response: Oh, that makes it all worthwhile. I must admit I hate those chapters that don\'t just jump out at you ... I second guessed myself a lot on this one, but the fact that people like it makes me trust me instincts that bit more. It\'s so tempting to gallop for the happy ending, but this story is a bit too complex for an easy resolution ... so I feel the need to deliver some sighworthy moments along the way ;)

OMG

I just LOVED this chapter! Jubilee's observations were fantastic, you had me rolling with laughter and yet drooling right along the X-Women (fall back is right LOL!)

In this one Chapter, you have been able to hold true to every character in your story, incredible. Just, incredible. Gambit's confrontation with Rogue was so cutting, I almost fell in love with him (almost - Logan is still number one, but barely :)

So, once again, bravo my dear, I am on the edge of my seat - just what the heck is going on with Jean? Me "lurves" it!

Author's Response: I glad the humour came through, because Jubes is always great for that. And what with all the sex and angst, I felt some comic relief might be useful. A talky chapter helps me move the plot on a bit, which is nice considering I have spent 25,000 words on what - 16 hours? I\'m glad the individual characters are coming across well; I don\'t particularly like cyphers in a story, I want them all to be real people. And with an epic, I have that luxury! And Jean - hmm, I wonder ;)

I love how you are bringing everyone into your story - so true to character, really giving your readers the ability to understand the environment both Logan and Rogue find themselves in. Again, I need to tell you - you are just so very, very, talented. I just love reading your stuff!

Author's Response: I\'m done! That cliffhanger was tormenting me too, don\'t worry! Thanks for reading ... and enjoy the next chapter ;)

Woah.

That was almost TOO hot (if there can be such a thing...)

Sexy and heartbreaking - the line Maire keeps wanting to draw between her and Rogue, and Logan's insistance that she accept the Marie in her...just...wow.

Incredible depth here, as is par for the course when it comes to your writing. As for Mystique and Magneto - I can see how it would be possible. To me, Rogue is the most complex character out of all the X-Men and her roots should reflect that.

Trust me, Logan, she prayed. Let me fucking worship you.
