Marie focused on dulling the pull of her skin, dampening her body’s desire to consume anything it came in contact with. That was the thing she hated about her mutation. Take, take, take. It felt selfish. She wished she had a mutation that was more suited to helping than hurting. Like if she could give away her own life force with a touch, rather than just steal others’.
Post-X3. A little angst and a lot fluff. Nothing especially original or well-written here, to be honest, but hopefully a fun little read.

Wow, I loved that story! You killed me with the short chapters on my slooooow cell phone, but it was worth all the waiting. ;-) Such a great characterization of them both, very sexy, nice revelations all around (Marie's insecurity and fear of growing up, Logan's yearnings)...the list of great stuff is endless. I really love playful, ebullient Logan, it's something you so rarely see and so charming. Laughed out loud at "You're black and white and red all over!" But I agree with other reviewers. I think you are missing a lucky Chapter 13. Don't wanna waste a Mature rating, do ya? ;-)

Aw...I'm so glad I was obnoxious in pushing you to write Chapter 13. It was just awesome. I do have a very...er, vivid (i.e. "perverted") imagination, but I would not have been able to imagine such a wonderful scene that fit the characters you established so perfectly. It was sweet, and sexy, and unexpected, and as you say, so very real. A truly great ending to a great story.

You have no idea how many times during the course of this chapter I started to go off in a decidedly NC-17 direction . . . but then . . . thinking about the characters, and Logan knowing how inexperienced she is, I just didn\'t think he would let things go *quite* that far on their first night, y\'know? I wanted it to be good, but also realistic and a little awkward. And there\'s certainly room for a sequel now, AFTER Feral, lol.

I\'m trying to keep them both in the specific backgrounds that I\'ve created for them, and have them act accordingly. I wanted to set the president early on, Logan does what he wants, when he wants, who he wants, and how he wants and doesn\'t take any shit from anyone about it. Marie is completely adaptable and saner than everyone believes, but it\'s by choice that she lives inside her head most of the time.\r\n\r\nThanks for taking the time to review, I\'m so glad to be back in the fandom!

I really like how you're developing the relationship between them. Again, the way you're only using Marie's point of view, so that Logan's motives and emotions seem mysterious -- it's very intriguing. You do the angst really well, but this bit of foof has to be my favorite line:
“It’s not like we’re shopping for pink frilly things and rainbows,” Logan protested. “Camping gear, that’s manly shopping.”

There are lots of great lines, but this is one was my favorite:
Logan would’ve whapped the idiot in the back of the head if he didn’t fear knocking his glasses off.
And I loved this too:
A soft growl came up in his throat before he could stop it. Oh. Oh hell.
Usually a whipped-puppy Marie would bother me a little, but this Marie is so pitch-perfect she's really sympathetic -- not at all maudlin or melodramatic. I'm not sure how you did it, but it's great to read.
Author's Response: LOL, Doc. Sorry to keep you waiting ;). Had a minor crisis at work which seriously cut into my fanfic time--no fairs! Stupid life. Anyways, I\'m really glad you\'ve enjoyed this story so far. And yeah, I felt kind of uncomfortable writing her character that way too, but as a product of her circumstances, it seemed more likely to me that she would become meek and skittish as a coping mechanism, rather than hardened and mean. But I think she\'ll come around some once she gets out of her terrible situation!

You are doing such a great job with this story...I like seeing Marie get a little bit of spark back, and it's cute how she can only do it because she thinks Logan is drunk. I like how she's taking charge, and poor Logan's fraying restraint is very sexy.
I really like how you're handling Logan's shame regarding his animal side. It's not overdone at all, just a natural assumption on his part that if she knows it'll change how she feels about him. And the little comments that hint at his damage, like this:
" Shit this good doesn’t happen to me."
I love me some damaged Logan. ;-) Now get writing, darlin'!

Awwww...I literally went "squee!" when I saw you had updated this. This story has hooked me in like crazy...I think your little chapters have some crack-like addictive properties. I really liked Marie taking control -- and Logan's restraint was very hot. It was all the more sad to see her go back to her whipped-puppy persona. I hope Logan can help her get past that. I really want to know what the morning brings, and how she reacts to his "secrets." So...get writing! Pretty please?
