Marie holds on to her sanity for a little while after they get back to the mansion. She’s determined to be real in front of the man that Jean says can help her. She owes it to them, to be healthy and whole, after what Logan’s gone through to make her safe again.
All the pain and the years of violence flash in front of her one last time when she’s standing in front of the Professor and his big wooden desk. She’s trying to keep track of what he’s saying while beating back the voices.
Suddenly the voices lower to a quiet murmur and all she can hear is him speaking to her and her own thoughts.
“I can help you, Marie. I can help you to be alone again in your mind. But first, you have to agree and you have to work with Jean so that we can.”
She reaches out to Logan and he’s there without hesitation. Her fingers dance on his and he grips hers sending calming and softness into her.
“OK. I can do this. But- but Logan has to stay with me.”
It’s a blur, when they get back down to the med bay, and she’s filled with panic and adrenaline before she can take one step into it. But Logan’s there at her back and whispering into her ear.
“It’s ok baby. I know it sucks, believe me I been there, but if you want to get better you have to.” So she steels her resolve and marvels at the new space she has in her mind and walks forward into the med bay. She can do this. She can do it for herself and for him.
