Welcome everyone to the Third annual Reader's Choice Awards. Nominations for the RCA's will be taken from Jan 5/08 to Feb 16/08. You can submit them via email, list post, review function on the new archive or through the LJ.

The format for them will be as follows:

Authors Email Address: (will be used to notify author of

Comments: (Praise for the author, comment about the story, etc.)
Story URL: (This is to keep track of things and make it easier for us to find the story)

I realize that some awards allow for you to nominate yourself, and I think that's fair. If you want to nominate a story you've done by all means, do so.

Voting will begin Feb 18, and will be in the same format as last year with several categories open for a total of four days. The polls will be on the yahoo groups page. To If they haven't closed on the date I've specified ie Feb 18-21 then I will manually close it on the 22nd.

Winners for the RCA's will be announced by March 10th (this allows me to get everything organized after the voting is over.) Awards this year will be banners like last year. And possibly a special prize or two - details to follow. If anyone is interested in helping to create them or has a suggestion for a graphic by all means please email me off list and I'll see what I can do.

Please remember that the nominations MUST only be from WRFA and if you're looking for them elsewhere you won't find them. They'll be in the new archive only dated clearly as 2008! This was an issue last year and I've made note of it in the category post as well as this one!

Last year's award winners are up on the new archive under Readers Choice Awards for 2008 so if you wish to see them, feel free to take a look. As well, it’s important to remember that if a story won last year within a category it isn’t eligible to win in that category again. As well there are a few changes to some of the categories so please read them over carefully to avoid any confusion.

Wow! After some careful consideration and discussion with DD, I'd like to clarify a few things. Most of the format will remain the same; the categories are going to be the same its just a few minor differences.

Nominations will fall into any of the following categories; please take note of several changes as well. In the following category DD and I have narrowed it down to specifics that we agree would be better suited to those categories and give everyone a fair chance. The categories with changes are marked with an. **


**Best Lengthy Story
Minimum 10,000 words. Must be a completed work--no works in progress.

**Best Short Story
Between 100 and 5,000 words.

Best Series
Must consist of at least two completed stories that could also be read
as stand-alone fics.

Most Tearjerker/Heartwarmer
A story that touched you emotionally be it in a good or bad way

Best Adult Theme
Story has sex, violence, or other content not suitable for younger
readers.

Best Humor
Written purposely to be funny.

Best Foof
Silly happy fun story that makes you go, "Awwww!"

Best Song Fic
Story based on song lyrics.

Best AU Fic
A story that takes place in an alternate universe. Logan and Rogue are
pirates. The X-Men are a biker gang.

Best Smut/PWP
Story mainly about sex.

Best UST
Unresolved sexual tension. Note: If they have sex in the story, it is
*not* unresolved sexial tension. Once they start fucking, it's been
resolved. :)

Best Use of a Prop
A feather duster, a bowling ball, an ice cream cone. If the story
revolves around a prop, nominate it here!

Best Twist
An awesome story that somehow comes out with a twist at the end to make
you sit back and go "WOW - didn't see that coming!"

Most Memorable Line
A single line from a story that sticks out as being particularly awesome.

Best Work in Progress - there are some really good stories out there that aren't finished and I felt that they needed some recognition. Now the rule with this one is if it has been in the archive and there haven't been any updates within the past six weeks - don't nominate it!

Best Angst: A story featuring a difficulty by one or more characters that may or not be resolved.

Best Friendship: A story that demonstrates the deep emotionan bond between Rogue and Logan without being overtly sexual.
