1. Chapter 1 by darkstar

Chapter 1 by darkstar
It's easier to close your eyes,
to run from this cruel demon world.
I know how the sunlight can burn
such holes in your innocence.
But rest easy, love, I am here.
Lay your head on my shoulder;
drown your fears in my love.
and recognize that I will never leave you
not until the clouds burn away
and we breathe the ashes of the moon.

It's easier to make believe
that nothing about us has changed.
I know how the mirror can crack
from the steel of pain in your eyes.
But rest easy, baby, I am here.
Touch your lips to my fingers;
paint your eyes in my dreams.
and recognize that you are still beautiful
even if I'm the only one who sees
past the disillusionment scars.

It's easier to deny your tears,
to pretend you can't feel the sting.
I know how the darkness can blind
even the purest of souls.
But rest easy, child, I am here.
Lay your head on my pillow;
find your light in my love.
and recognize that I will keep you warm
even if the stars freeze and fall
and the oceans shatter as ice.

It's easier to spin the lie
that fighting for truth gives you faith.
I know how the battles can tear
every belief you held close.
But rest easy, darling, I am here.
Tangle your hands through mine;
fall with me into my dreams.
and recognize that we are forever
even if we died today,
I would fight my way back to your side.

It's easier to close your eyes,
to curl up in darkness and hide.
I know how the moonlight can freeze
the very breath in your lungs.
But rest easy, love, I am here.
Sleep tight in my embrace,
find your peace in my love.
and recognize that I will never leave you
even if the clouds burned down,
we'd dance barefoot through the ashes
of the moon.
