Whoa. Very interesting development. I confess, I haven't been following this fic as much. It's not my favorite AU scenario or my favorite Marie, perhaps, which just means we have different tastes. (Which you know already :P)

But now it's getting very interesting, I think. Marie - a vampire? Not just Logan fighting the animal, but Marie, too. But I think what makes this most interesting to me is Logan's moral dilemma.

In your fics, Logan often has a keen sense of right and wrong, even if that's his own path, and even if he breaks his own rules. His rule about not sleeping with kids, for example, will never be broken, but he'll also always keep adult Marie, even when he's sure he doesn't deserve her. So his moral complexity/ambiguity/flexibility is always interesting to watch.

But I think this may be the first fic in which he believes in something *first*. In the other fics, Marie is usually his salvation, maybe? Or he may believe in survival; sometimes not even that. But here - he believes in being a hunter. He had to wrestle with that belief when he had the beast within himself, but maybe he didn't have to wrestle *all* that much: he still killed that brother, he still stayed with claude, he still slept with Marie, made a deal with the Wolverine. He never considered (or Marie persuaded him not to) kill himself, as the hunter in him might have him do.

Maybe he accepted it because Marie did: the balm to his soul, loved in spite of it, and protected from it even, with her medicine.

But now we've got a real Logan dilemma - that repulsive steely sneer when he allowed her to drink from him, the hard way in which he says 'don't expect a refill', the way he planned not to take the cure...He will do anything for Marie. Maybe he's just discovering that he might even let her live with the vampire in her. He'll feed her. If she needed it, would he kill for her? Allow her to feed on others? Would he kill her? She's everything that the 'hunter' is against. Maybe he's discovering he'd be willing to do a lot more than he ever thought possible.

I don't know. But I found this chapter to be incredibly fascinating. Looking forward to where this story goes next.
