I like this, the way the words flow and the pictures come unbidden to my mind's eye. Took a moment to realize it was Logan and Marie's child speaking.

I get that Marie's mutation came back and Logan was 'not pleased' by this. But who left? Did someone leave? Did Marie leave? Did Logan leave? What did the old paper note say? Was the caress a gesture of goodbye?

Can you tell I don't do well with subtlety or metaphores?
