A cave... not a cabin... well very... very... can't come up with a word... very down to earth maybe.

But I think it's a good idea Xavier won't be looking in caves.

Really like the cave idea!

Author's Response: It occured to me after watching a programme we have over here called 'Ray Mears Extreme Survival'. He was in the same area a lot of us write about, and as I watched the programme I realised that there really isn't that much straight or level ground to build on. He (Ray Mears that is) found a lee under a pine ridge, which was for the most part shale (a rock that splits and falls easily causing landslides). So I thought about it, this place he gets away to might not be a cabin, that'd take time, it'd need building rights, it'd need equipment, it could be traced by anyone. But if he's living off the land, using the local terrain to keep him warm, a decent sized cave even twenty feet into a hill will keep temperatures up by ten degrees. All he'd need to do is build a fire near the entrance, the earth in caves is usually sterile so food storage wouldn't be a problem. Also doing a bit of research into the lives of Ex-Vietnam veterans helped too. When they came home some went 'native' and stayed out in the wilds, not trusting themselves or others around them. Logan is a veteran of many conflicts, at least here he can be himself without having to worry about things. There's no door to kick in and the only things he has to worry about is the weather and fresh water supplies. I just hope Marie can manage with it, I've known plenty of women who refuse point blank to even consider peeing behind a bush when they're out in the countryside and dying to pee. Me I don't care and it feeds the plant you pee on when it degrades. Glad you like it, thanks for reading and commenting! Jo.
