Awww. On the one hand, it would have been so awesome to watch kickass!Marie, I dunno, shoot Jose or get him thrown in jail or some such, but this too is satisfying. I love Logan's breathless "oh" when he sees her body. When you get really badly hurt, you don't or can't necessarily scream; sometimes the pain is so bad that you don't have the breath.

My only quibble, and it's a really small one, is that I've never thought Marie's power actually makes wounds open on the skin but that the cuts that opened on Logan's face on the Statue were the wounds he'd taken from Sabretooth during their fight. They just opened back up, after starting to close, because his healing was being drained away.

But, you know, that's really my interpretation, and everyone has their own. :)

Author's Response: Don't worry; Marie will get her own brand of justice, both for herself and Jose's other victims. It may not be the violent retribution Wolverine got, but I still consider it pretty kickass :). I started to write some long drawn out scene where Logan ruthlessly tortures the guy and Marie delivers the killing blow, but that just didn't seem true to the characters or what their emotions would be at the time. I think Logan was just so far gone, in such shock/denial, that he couldn't do much of anything but slash the hell out of the guy and get back to Marie. Interesting about Marie's powers. I never thought of that, but it makes sense.... damn. I might have to think of a way to redo that scene. Darnit, why do you have to go and be all logical and stuff?

Hee. Me Wolverine, me command you, as Sahara once wrote. So cute watching Logan's caveman side come out. Hey baby, you so feral, baby... ;D

Author's Response: His 'caveman' side is awfully endearing. Oddly enough, I think in some ways he's at his most vulnerable, emotionally, when he's being a complete neanderthal. It's fun to write :P

Amazingly written, but i was expecting a long tortuous description of Jose's death, and him begging for mercy from the Wolverine... unless Logan killed the wrong guy?

Author's Response: I think Logan (or Wolverine?) was just too far gone to even think about things like torturing the guy in that moment. He was in total shock from finding Marie dead, and he just slashed and slashed and then got back to her as quick as he could. But don't worry... as you'll see in the latest chapter, there will be plenty of time for him to torture Jose, and plenty of time for Jose to beg for mercy.

I am sorry but I still continually sit back and marvel at the emotion and depth you are able to put into so few words in this piece. These last three chapters are strikingly powerful. I adore adore the conversation between Logan and God - that's just freakin' awesome!

Now we just need Marie to save Logan. Still loving it!

Author's Response: Thanks so much. Yeah, I don't think Logan's the type of guy to take flak off anybody, not even God. He calls'em like he sees'em ;). Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Oh. My. God.

Fantastic chapters. Love his musings about wanting to care for Marie in a primal way. Love Ororo's "fresh-as-rain" scent...such a nice touch. The irony of Logan wishing Marie shared his senses, which will likely happen but not in any way he would have hoped.

But this:

She doesn’t deserve this. Are You up there, You bastard? After all the shit You put me through, You fuckin’ owe me one. Take me instead. My life for hers. You hear that, bub? My life for hers.

His life for hers. The first prayer he’d ever had answered.

You're breaking my heart with this.

Sorry about harassing you for updates in my prior review. You're right, six chapters in one night *should* be enough, but of course it never will be! I'll always want more, until the story is over, and then I'll be all pissed off because it's over. ;-) There's not pleasing a rabid fan, so please don't feel pressured or anything. Unless it makes you post faster. Because then it's okay. ;-)

Author's Response: I love having readers who actually catch moments of dramatic irony like that. It makes me want to try to be a better writer. So thanks for that :D. And I think that's exactly how Logan would pray. He doesn't take shit from anybody, not even the Big Guy himself. And don't worry, lol, you weren't harassing at all, it was just funny. I'd probably post more if I wasn't prepping for finals. Eww.

YES! Get em Wolverine! Oh, I cannot wait to see what comes next! The moment he found her in the dumpster was so powerful. Oh. That was all he could say. damn.

Author's Response: Yeah, I think he was in total shock/denial right there. I mean, really, what the hell else is there to say when you see something like that? I can't even imagine how overwhelming that would be!

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

God, this story is wrenching!!! Really.

Ugh, so stressed now and must go do loads of homework. sigh...

Wonderful writing and excellent story-weaving, as usual!

Author's Response: Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, and good luck with the homework! Finals week for me. Yuck :(

::melts::

He wanted to hunt for her and build a fire to keep her warm and bring home useless, pretty things just to make her happy.

Awwww, he can keep me warm and bring me useless, pretty things...but then that goes against my Rogan shipperyness. Damn. Lucky Marie.

Although I have to say that during this whole chapter I was basically yelling at him: "She needs your help! Go, go, go, go!!! Arrrrrrrgh!!! She's in a dumpster bleeding to death, damnit!"

....

Um, I promise I'm normal.

Well, relatively. ;)

Author's Response: LMAO. Great review, I love it. And yeah, I was pretty much yelling at him as I wrote it, "Damn it, Logan, you aren't gonna be able to bring her any useless pretty things if she's dead. Why'd you let her run off alone, you idiot?!" P.S. Normal is overrated =D

Author's Response: Ooh sorry. Not exactly the best welcome home present, huh? Don't worry, I'll make up for it with future smut and happytimes. Promise :)

Omg she can't be dead!

Author's Response: Don't worry! I would never do that, and especially not without an explicit character death warning. There are enough sad endings out there; I wouldn't write a story with one :)

OMFG! This was insane! Poor Marie. Where is Logan? He needs to save Marie and kill Jose!!!

Author's Response: I agree. This was insane, and Logan definitely needs to commence with the saving!

Woah. That was so intense. The imagery you created, the emotion, the raw intensity...just wow. And that parting image--a disoriented Marie watching the dumpster lid close on her. Wow. Anxiously waiting for the next part. Keep up the great work!

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review. I'm glad you liked the parting image. I certainly found it disturbing, as it should be!

You shouldn't worry about it turning out bad because damn...that was powerful. Horrible and gut-wrenching, but a very powerful scene. You captured that feeling of starting to slip away...

I'm thinking that Logan will give her some of that healing power, huh? I'm hoping, at least...oh god, what a horrible place to leave it. Thank goodness you update regularly (and hopefully especially quickly after leaving us with this?). But, anyway, great story and you're pacing it wonderfully.

Author's Response: You were right about the healing power :). Of course I wouldn't kill off Marie for good. That would just ... suck. A lot! Thanks for the review :)

Oh my...this is horribly sad. Especially that last bit of Marie praying. Just wanting to be told she was somebody. ::sniffle:: I just finished watching a sad movie that made me cry and this is just compounding the emotion. Where's Logan when you need him?

Author's Response: Aww sorry for contributing to your sadfest :(. I think Marie will find that she's someone though. She may not have been able to see it in that moment, but in the end she'll look back at what happened to her and actually won't regret it. And yeah, where the hell is Logan when you need him? At the Statehouse Convention Center thinking of strategies to woo Marie, of course ;)

Um, Logan would be more than a little sad. I'm pretty sure he'd be livid. Oh, Marie...that's sad. You're gonna have this asshole in your mind. :(

Btw, thanks so much for the multiple chapter update!!

Author's Response: You're welcome. I feel like a jerk posting just one chapter when they're this short. I'll try to post 4-5 chapters per update :). And you're right, Logan would be completely livid and violent beyond reason. But I guess we all know that now!

Oh, damn. Really, really wish Logan was waiting in the car to come in and show Jose a taste of his unique brand of cruelty. Ew, people like him are scum of the earth. Aside from my opinion on him, wonderful writing as usual. And thanks for the translations- Spanish is not one of the languages on my list.

Author's Response: Glad you appreciated the translations. Speaking in Spanglish is so second-nature for me I didn't even think about it until Baybelletrist pointed it out, heh. Thanks so much for being such a loyal reviewer. It always makes me smile! (And want to write more quickly =D)

Ugh, this guy is...well, *insert any of Logan's oh-so-eloquent insults*

And she should totally take him out if she needs to, but ew. To have him in her head would really suck.

Author's Response: So true. Having those kinds of thoughts in your head--and not just the thoughts, but the feelings that go along with them--would be terrible!

I like the idea of writing it from the victim's perspective. I am hoping that was an emergency call the Xmen signal that Marie pressed. UPDATE SOON!!!!

Author's Response: Ha! That would be nice. Every phone should have one of those. Could come in damn handy if you, y'know, got a flat on the side of the road or something.

Oh my goodness. Where to start. That was just heart-wrenchingly, blood-chillingly, brutal.

I really liked how "real" you kept the Jose/Marie interaction. It makes sense that she wants the money as a "safety net," her low self-esteem keeping her unconvinced that she's really someone Logan would want to have around.

Jose is mercurial enough that she's not being ridiculously stupid in choosing to face him again, but it has a very nice tragic logic that her newfound confidence / defiance is the thing that pushes him over the edge.

The stabbing scene was really well-written. I, as the reader, was just so desperately hoping for Logan to show up, even though it wasn't logical, he wouldn't have had time to stop it even if he got the phone call, but the sick feeling I got when I realized he wasn't going to make it in time was a pale mirror of what poor Marie was feeling.

So, when you say the next update won't be too long, you mean later tonight, right? Right?

Author's Response: I'm glad the stabbing scene came across well. I kept wavering between whether to go for the gore/pain/physical details, or just focus on the emotions Marie was feeling. Hopefully the emotional side was the right choice. And yeah, it was freakin' hard to *write* this because Logan kept trying to sneak in and suddenly, y'know, bust into the restaurant in a blaze of claw-wielding fury and claim his woman. Sneaky feral. Jeez, Doc, you're killin' me. Six chapters a day isn't enough? ;) lmao

Once again you have fascinated us with your amazing attention to detail.

That was a scary chapter, also finally Maries turning into the Rogue.
The part of me that has a conscience, almost feels sorry for Jose key word almost because whatever horrible things he's done is nothing compared to what Logan is going to do. The wolverine is good at what he does and what he does isn't very nice.

Author's Response: That's true. He's the best there is, eh? Thanks so much for taking the time to read and review. Jose is gonna get what's coming to him, for sure!
