Ooh. Bad cage. My first thought was 'Elf to the rescue!' But much as I love meine blauen Freund, it was cool to see Rogue take care of things :).

Oh my God. Emma getting off on Logan's pain? That's just sick. In a good way 0_o;;.

Aww. I loved the heartfelt scene with Logan telling Rogue to get to the school and making her repeat it back to him. And then straight back to the action. Yeehaw.

Author's Response: Yeah, creepy huh? Originally I just had him in adamantium chains or something, but the idea of a cage with no door really freaked me out so I had to use it! I hadn't actually thought of Kurt in this timeline, but I do love him so maybe he will make an appearance. Don't worry, I'm sure Emma will get what's coming to her. ;-) I'm glad you liked the scene with Logan giving Rogue the school info -- that was one of my favorite parts too. Thanks again for reviewing!

OUTFUCKINGSTANDING! Can't control it...HA! You vicious bastard, Shaw! Take that!

When will I learn to stop being surprised by brilliant twists in this story? That was the coolest thing I think ever seen anybody do with Rogue's mutation -- pull a specific 'foreign' power out of Logan and use it to her advantage. Sort of a 'the hand that touched the hand' kind of thing. Brilliant!

On to Ch. 12...(oh, goody! oh, goody!) --Wendie

Author's Response: Ha, I'm sorry to say that you gave me a lot more credit than I deserved. ;-) That is a neat idea that Rogue might potentially absorb power by transference from a "carrier", but in this case she had in fact absorbed Azazel earlier (and teleported, even), so she just reached back to that prior absorption and managed to use the power when the chips were down. But thanks anyway for the compliment!

Wow, the sh*t is really about to hit the fan, isn't it? Evacuating the mansion is a huge thing. Can't wait to see what Xavier has to say about Phoenix.

I love where you're taking this, though the pacing feels a tiny bit rushed. Still, even your worst day is better than a lot of people's best days, so I'm still here. :)

Author's Response: Yeah, evacuating the mansion is a huge thing, but with Shaw's powers he could take the whole thing out. And with his personality he might not care whether the kids are there, especially if he's mad enough. I agree, in trying to communicate the urgency of their escape I probably did rush things a bit -- and I also wanted them to more or less make the rendezvous time. Thanks again for your review!

Hey, I'm reading! I knew they weren't going to get out as easily as the plan suggested, but they still made it out! And about time, too!

Author's Response: Yeah, things were getting a little dodgy in the Shaw mansion, huh? Thanks for the review!

First quick piece of constructive feedback - I didn't get that Marie had teleported them until I went back and read it again. It may just be me but it took me a minute to determine that she had teleported them and not changed the cage into wood.

The last paragraph rocks! I could just feel the rage directed at the Professor. I am glad they got away. The moments when Logan made Marie repeat what he told her were intense. I could see the entire scene play out in my head.

I am really really enjoying this story.

Author's Response: You know, I was SO worried about that I made my husband read it over to tell me if he understood what happened. He said he did, but I can see where it might be confusing, especially if you're not reading the last few chapters all at once like he was. I kind of screwed myself by saying earlier that when Logan gets teleported he doesn't hear the "thwucking" sound, because that would probably have been a bigger clue. I tried to use the same language (the "dizzying sensation of nothingness") and the smoke, but I know it was pretty sudden, and yet I didn't think I could have Rogue say, "Hang on, I'm gonna give teleportation a shot." I might move the line about being in the stables up a bit, let me know if that makes it more clear what happened. I'm glad you liked that part with the tags and how intense Logan is there, it seemed very Logan-ish to me. I'm really glad to give him a chance to show his stuff instead of just being stuck because of Shaw's abilities. Thanks so much for reviewing!

Absolutely rockin' update? That is an understatement! You did not disappoint. This was awesome! You set up a great trap for Logan and a perfect (and unexpected) escape for Logan and Marie. I loved seeing Marie pull a fast one on Shaw & Co. Damn straight, Marie, you are nobody's fool or victim! Very cool! And I love seeing Logan take charge, kicking butt and taking names. Great ending line too:

“You and I need to talk. What the fuck is a Phoenix, and what does it have to do with Jean?”

This is what you come up with when you are drinking mojitos?! Is it wrong for me to condone drinking when it produces such great writing? Well if it's wrong then I don't want to be right! ;)

Author's Response: Aw, thanks so much for your wonderful reviews...and please forgive my pathetic author's note from last chapter. There may have been some mojito involved there too. ;-) I'm glad you liked the chapter. Yes, I think Marie will be showing more and more strength as things come up. And I know, *finally* Wolverine gets to kick some ass! Poor guy has been so hemmed in by Shaw's power. He was way overdue some bloodshed. Thanks again for your reviews, they are always so much fun. Just for you, I'll try to post the next chapter extra early -- hopefully Friday. Cheers!

as always exciting. know what you mean about reviews being thin on the ground, so here's yours: Bravo!

Author's Response: So glad you liked it! And now I am embarrassed, because I owe you a bunch of reviews for "Stray." I wasn't sure that you actually checked them...it sounds stupid when I say it, but I reviewed every chapter of some of your other stories and you never responded or anything so I thought maybe you didn't check. I'll get right on it!

A nail biter. Seriously. I felt Logan's rage as he sat in that cage watching everything around him. And, hot damn, I'd forgotten that she'd absorbed Azazel. Brilliant.

Author's Response: Aw, thanks so much for the review! I'm so glad you liked it! I was worried I was "broadcasting" too much when Azazel said the part about teleporting being the only way in and out. I'm glad I still managed to surprise you.
