The plot thickens...

I look forward to seeing where this is going!!

Author's Response: :-) Yeah, this one is especially plot-y! I'm having trouble fitting it all in!

I don't think that things are going too slow or too fast, the pace feels just right. Things are building and developing quite nicely both in the plot and between Logan and Marie. I love the interaction between them--they are both guarded and wary with being in a dangerous situation but they can't help being drawn to each other and making themselves vulnerable and reaching out. And Marie doesn't seem weak to me, just someone who's been alone and forced to deal with evil, sadistic people for too long. She just needs some support from a certain sexy mutant to regain her footing and realize that she can trust herself and others again.

And wow, saying that Emma and Shaw are evil just doesn't cut it. "I want you to hurt her. And I want to watch.” Well, honey, what goes around comes around and I can't wait for her and Shaw to get theirs, courtesy of Logan and Marie.

Can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your reassuring comments about the pace. And that their connection doesn't seem forced, and Marie too weak. Boy, I'm really insecure about this fic, aren't I? I promise I'm not fishing for compliments. ;-) Yeah, both Emma and Shaw creep the bejeezus out of me, so I think they will be pretty epically evil in this fic!

It's kind of nice to have a story where I feel bad for Jean instead of hating her for being a bitch. I can now transfer my Jean hate over to Emma. I have a feeling it will become an epic thing by the end of this.

This is excellent. I love that they are working together but neither can actually figure out why they are. Also, I'm curious as to who started that little tickle in Marie's head. I think I might know who it is but you, my dear, have a tendency to throw lovely curve balls at us constantly so I am always caught guessing. Can't wait to read more!

Author's Response: Yeah. Although I love some of the Evil!Jeans in other fics, in my fics she's usually pretty peripheral and benign. And I definitely hate Emma in an epic way, so hopefully that will translate. The next chapter will have more answers and will be posted soon, I promise!

'Diabolical' is a vast understatement, but it seems to reach farther than 'evil' in describing your Shaw and Emma. Bwwaaahaaahaahaa!

And I love Logan...so unsure of himself with a creature as fragile as Rogue...but you said she'll get stronger...I'll wager one reason for that will be Logan, perhaps not so much because he gives her strength, but because at some point he will need her to be strong for him. I wait with bated breath... --Wendie

Author's Response: Yeah, Shaw and Emma are quite the twisted pair. I'm glad you're liking this Logan. I always feel a little unsure when I have Logan being a little uncharacteristically smiley or nurturing, but I think you're right, the fragility of Rogue brings it out of him. And yes, my Rogues usually show their strength in defense of Logan, so hopefully she'll go beyond damsel-in-distress status soon. :-)

I think it's normal to feel rushed, particularly in the beginning when you're introducing & developing the characters, but in my opinion the pacing on this is excellent. There has not been a single scene so far that has seemed to drag or tax my patience as a reader (and that's something of a rareity for me).

Have to agree with Sera that the connection is so there already, and there's something incredibly intriguing about the tension, the way they're dancing around each other. And as for the last scene, really well done as well. Felt very in-character. Ugh, Emma, that bitch. I just have this visceral hatred towards her character, the likes of which I haven't felt since Cruella DeVille ;). She and Shaw are a perfect match--can't wait to see them get taken the fuck down, preferably Wolverine-style ;).

Great update! Mas, rapidamente, por favor :D :D :D

Author's Response: Thanks so much...that's very reassuring. Usually I start with an idea of certain "character moments", and this is the first story where the plot idea was kind of formed in advance. So I feel a lot of pressure to get the plot out there, but you're right, it's not going to matter if the characters haven't connected. Yeah, Emma is a stone-cold bitch in this, and my dislike of January Jones in First Class gives me great joy in making her a truly awful individual. More soon, I promise!

There is just something about Marie's and Logan's connection in this story - two souls reaching out to the other in spite of themselves. The need is there, but so is the vulnerability. Neither wants to get hurt, yet they both react badly when they hurt each other.

I think this story is moving along just the way it should - not too fast, not too slow. You are an extra-ordinary writer, I love the interaction between your Logan and Marie so please, by all means, don't hold back, lol!

And as for Shaw and Emma? Bloody WHORES. Vessel? VESSEL? Grrr...

Author's Response: I'm so glad that you're liking the Marie and Logan connection. And that you're liking the pace, it's very reassuring! Yeah, Shaw and Emma are really...not nice. It was pretty squicky writing sex between them, honestly.
