Unfortunately, she is now plot-wise more important than ever as the enemy within that is set off from the enemy no longer without, i.e. Mystique.

Wolf, I'm just starting reading this (so behind in online life it's not funny). Rogue's line about having to ask permission to do something to her own body? WOW. Dead on. I do love me some X-Men, but I have to admit, I agree with Eric a lot.
Author's Response: That 'my body, my choice' issue hit me right from the first time I saw X3 - Bobby had to get just a tad put-off about Rogue taking the cure, when he should have been accepting (and in the context of that movie, perhaps grateful). But nooooo! That gave me the impetus to make it a sticking point between them in this story. Someone earlier commented that Rogue had been kind of nasty to Bobby, but that opening scene (for me, at least) sets the scene for why their relationship won't work (well, that, plus the presence of the very edible Logan).

Y'know, my favourite part of that whole chapter is the way you describe Logan lazily soaking in the warm afterglow. It's just purely delicious.

AND you resist becoming too smutty for real - just acutely observed (not necessarily in the original sense of the word ;-) and carefully poised between angst, pain, self-consciousness, enjoyment and love. Wonderfully executed, this one.

LOVE the paragraph that has Rogue preparing - conveys everything in the terse checking off of trifles, and the utter panic of the last sentence.
(Admittedly, I find it hard to grasp the concept of actually planning and arranging a night like that, but hey.)
AND, though this is not really giving your story the dues it's worth, what I almost like most is the way you give each chapter a headline and how much care you have obviously put into the one-line summaries. Great regard for details is too often neglected - I greatly enjoy it here.
Author's Response: Thank you so much, Baincainte - I'm a lover of those little details, too. And the snarkiness I TRY to put into those chapter summaries, I think, sort of breaks up the cumulative angst (yep, it's coming).

You know, this story has been quite a bit smuttier than I anticipated at the beginning. And I gotta say-- I don't hate it. :)
And all the virgin blood talk at the end of the lovin', just enough 'ewwwwwwww' to bring you back down to earth and make the whole thing more real. Good job.
Still, I refuse to be giddy. Several lovey chapters in a row?..... You're killing one of them aren't you?! :O
